Just after 7 p.m. Saturday evening, Sheriff Ken Furlong reported a shooting had occurred in the area of Lee and Roop Streets.

One victim self transported themselves to the hospital as a result of the shooting.

The Carson Farmers Market brought their tradition back today with a celebratory market, put on in honor of National Farmers Market Week.

The market was located at Mills Park inside Marv Teixeira Pavillion until 1 p.m. The vendors had options of everything from fresh produce, to exotic meats, baked pastries, jams, honey, art, gems, live plants, and more! There were also food trucks with delicious treats like crepes and live music.

A traffic accident was reported just after 12:00 a.m. Saturday near the East College Parkway and Emerson Street. Traffic is currently blocked by at least three vehicles involved in the collision.

There is a head injury and wrist injury involved amongst the people in the vehicles.

Avoid the area if possible.

Stewart Community, part of the Washoe Tribe and located south of Carson City, is working on a historic $14 million affordable housing development — the largest housing project the tribe has ever taken on.

The project includes 20 new homes for low-income residents and a community center that will provide community activities such as after-school programs, and will offer units with a variety of payment plans including rental and rent-to-own programs.

In an endeavor to aid the victims of the wildfires in Maui, the Nashville Social Club in Carson City, Nevada, is launching a series of fundraisers during the month of August, benefitting the Maui Strong fund of the Community Foundation of Hawai’i.

The first event kicks off this Saturday night, Aug. 12, when NSC will donate 10% of the proceeds from dinners purchased by patrons attending the "Most Wanted: Country Rock Burlesque Show" in the Swan Music Hall to the Maui Strong Fund.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting is expected to take place on Thursday, Aug. 17, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room in the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

The main item of discussion is regarding the Lompa Ranch and Black Stone ranch. Other items of key discussion are listed after the ranches discussions.

Local teen golfer Luke Swanson qualified to play in two international golf tournaments this summer including the International Management Group Academy Junior World Golf Tournament and the U.S. Kids Golf World Teen Championships.

Both events bring top golfers from around the world to compete in three day tournaments that test both skill and mental determination.

Carol Scott, the executive director of Wild Horse Children’s Theater was one of five outstanding educators from schools and performing arts centers around the U.S. who received the Freddie G. Fellowship.

Carol was flown to New York in July to work one-on-one with Broadway professionals at the twelfth Annual Freddie G Fellowship G from July 13 to 16.

Nevada Secretary of State Francisco V. Aguilar announced the Commercial Recordings Division opened new offices for business licensing and customer service in Carson City on Aug. 9.

The new office is located at the Paul Laxalt Building, 401 N. Carson St. in Carson City. The location across the street from the Nevada State Capitol has been closed and will no longer take customers.
