The Carson City Sheriff’s Office would like to welcome everyone into a new school year. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers and Traffic Units will be teaming up to monitor and enforce all school zone laws for this school calendar year. Before the 2023-2024 school year commences, The Carson City Sheriff’s Office would like to provide the community with some helpful school zone traffic safety laws.

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo announced a short-term solution to the Opportunity Scholarship crisis on Friday, which was initially created when legislative Democrats stripped scholarship funding out of Governor Lombardo’s education bill (AB400). Legislators then refused to consider any other funding plan and then again declined to help Opportunity Scholarship students last week.

Kathryn Kelly, founder and executive director of Carson City’s I-School, brought a Russian family by for An Evening with Mark Twain, and I fell in love with them.

So the following morning, hoping Nikolai might be willing to translate into Russian, I penned letters to Presidents Putin and Zelensky asking for an audience, and yes, Nikolai is in fact translating as we speak. I thought too, I had better check in with the DOJ and State Department to be sure I’m following protocol, should I actually receive that invitation.

A friend asked me recently if I had planted all the sunflowers in my yard. The answer is no. They are all volunteers that probably started with birds dropping seeds. For years I have let them grow because the goldfinches love eating their seeds. These perennial reseeders spread and change location every year depending on what I did the previous summer that disturbed their habitat.
