Secretary of State’s Commercial Recordings Division opens new offices for customer service in Carson City
Nevada Secretary of State Francisco V. Aguilar announced the Commercial Recordings Division opened new offices for business licensing and customer service in Carson City on Aug. 9.
The new office is located at the Paul Laxalt Building, 401 N. Carson St. in Carson City. The location across the street from the Nevada State Capitol has been closed and will no longer take customers.
According to a statement on behalf of the office via email from the Secretary of State’s Public Information Officer, Cecilia Heston, the Secretary of State’s Office moved its Commercial Recordings Division to a state-owned building to better manage the office (including managing leasing and other contracts pertaining to office space) and allow better capacity for the staff and customers. The statement said the secretary of state and the staff are excited to be in the historic Paul Laxalt State Government Building. The Laxalt Building, the first federal office building constructed in Nevada, has been home to the U.S. Post Office and Courthouse and includes Carson City's only Clock Tower.
"The Paul Laxalt State Government Building has a deep history for serving Nevadans for over a century and now the Secretary of State's Office is going to be a part of that legacy. Silver and Blue cover the building, and the bell chime tells you exactly where you are: Carson City, Nevada!" said Kevin Musick, Mail Room staffer. "Whether people stop in to see this historical landmark or come in to get their business license registration, we're proud to greet anyone who comes into our new office."
Customers can visit the new location to start a business and register for a state business license, register a trademark, pay annual licensing fees and more. Services are also available online at nvsos.gov and customer service representatives can be contacted at (775) 684-5708.
