Carson City sheriff’s deputies make arrests for drugs and contempt of court
A 34-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday at 9:31 p.m. for a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Just before 9:10 p.m., a reporting party told dispatch about approximately 12 transients setting up camp and trespassing on the AutoZone property. When the deputy arrived on scene, there was a tent located on the south side of the building and the deputy made contact with only two people, a male and female.
The officer told Brittney Much, the female in the tent, to exit since the property wanted them to leave. When Much unzipped the tent, the deputy approached looking for weapons and instead saw a torch lighter and a plastic bindle with a crystalline substance in it, which the deputy could identify as methamphetamine. The deputy did a field test on the drug, which was positive for meth and Much claimed the meth to be hers.
The deputy did not search the rest of the tent since the meth was seen in plain view. Much was arrested and taken to Carson City Jail without incident. Bail: $2,500
