Carson City attorney Jackie Bryant will join Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval's team as Deputy Chief of Staff beginning Feb. 19. She will replace Ann Wilkinson, who has served as Sandoval's Deputy Chief of Staff since January 2011.
Wilkinson is leaving to return to the practice of law, effective Feb. 20.

Carson City authorities made numerous felony and misdemeanor arrests recently, including arrests for domestic violence, car theft and probation violation court orders.

A 25-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Feb. 7, 7:04 p.m. in the 400 block of Simone Avenue on an outstanding felony warrant out of Douglas County.

The board of the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau will meet today to discuss, among other things, hiring an interim executive director. The board began its search for the interim director after Candace Duncan retired in December.

Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks was arrested early Sunday morning in Las Vegas on suspicion of domestic violence after allegedly attacking a family member in a physical confrontation and then attempting to take a law enforcement officer's gun.

The arrest, reported at 12:30 a.m. came only days after Brooks, 40, agreed to a leave of absence while being investigated for a number of bizarre events that began with his arrest for allegedly making threats to Nevada Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick.

Nevada Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Anderson Muñoz of Dayton, who was injured by a rocket attack in Afghanistan, received a Purple Heart on Saturday in Reno.
Muñoz, 35, is one of about 50 Nevada Guardsmen to receive a Purple Heart since Sept. 11, 2001. He suffered a ruptured ear drum and concussion during enemy rocket fire on Nov. 18, 2011.
