An investigation that found Las Vegas area mental health patients being shipped by bus to California and other states for treatment has led to an unspecified amount of firings, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Monday.

In a statement, Sandoval said further disciplinary action has been taken at Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital in Las Vegas based upon internal investigations of 1,500 patients discharged since July 2008. Late last week, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services finished its review of out-of-state transports between July 2008 and March 2013.

Two events this week, one in Carson City and the other in Virginia City, will recognizes law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

In conjunction with National Police Week, Thursday, May 2, the 16th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony will be held on the Capitol grounds in Carson City beginning at noon. The service will honor the 123 Nevada Peace Officers that have been killed in the line of duty since 1861. In 1998, the memorial was dedicated on the Capitol grounds to recognize the ultimate sacrifice these officers made in service of their communities.

Here is the Carson City area road construction and maintenance report for the week of April 29 through May 5.
There will be road work on Long Street between Roop Street and Molly Drive. No delays are expected.

There will be intermittent lane closures on Fairview Drive from Edmonds Drive to Carson Street beginning Sunday, April 28, and continuing into the week due to roadway maintenance. There will also be intermittent closures on Longview Way from Ash Canyon Road to Kings Canyon Road. Minimal delays are expected.
