Scattered showers and afternoon thunderstorms are possible for the Carson City region over the next several days as unsettled weather moves through the area.

The best chance of thunderstorms in the Carson City area will come Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. In the Sierra, snow showers are possible at the higher elevations Monday night.

Here is the Carson City road maintenance and construction report through May 12: The outside westbound lane of William Street will be closed Sunday from Carson Street to Plaza Street due to construction activity on the building adjacent to the roadway.

The northbound lane on Fairview Drive will be closed between Fifth Street and Edmonds Drive due to roadway maintenance. Detours will be marked.

There will be road work on Long Street between Roop Street and Molly Drive. No delays are expected.

The warming weather has many golfers eager to return to the course, but vandals in Carson City have caused a minor delay of game. "We had 108, carts now we have approximately 93 carts that are working," says Empire Ranch Golf Pro, Sean Boggs.

Nevada recorded 37 motorcycle-related deaths in 2012 according to the state's Office of Traffic Safety. With a continuing goal of Zero Fatalities, Gov. Brian Sandoval proclaims May 2013 Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

The proclamation calls on motorcyclists and motorists to be vigilant in their efforts to Share the Road to ensure the safety of everyone on Nevada’s roadways.

Discover some of the many beautiful wildflowers in bloom on this two mile, moderate walk starting at the main boat ramp. Phlox, Daisies, Butterweed, Lupine, Larkspur, Paintbrush and many more wildflowers will be highlighted on this walk.

Jamba Juice on Topsy Lane in Carson City will hold a fundraiser for cancer patient Tiffani Barber, Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11. Fifty percent of sales will go to help Tiffani and her cancer treatment.

Earlier this year the Carson City woman was diagnosed with gliobalstoma, the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumor. She found herself at age 24 in the fight for her life.
