A 20-year-old Carson City man was jailed Tuesday and faces statutory sexual seduction and failure to appear charges. Jose Alberto Garcia-Perez was booked into the Carson City Jail after being transported by law officials in Las Vegas.

A warrant was issued for the statutory sexual seduction charge, a gross misdemeanor, on April 5 out of Carson City Justice Court while the failure to appear warrant was issued June 24. He is being held without bail on the failure to appear charge, and $5,000 bail for the other charge.

Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto joined 39 other states in asking the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to put an end to mobile cramming, the placement of unauthorized third-party charges on mobile phone bills.

“Consumers have the right to have extra charges removed,” said Masto in a news release. “My office will continue take appropriate action against those who bill unauthorized amounts on consumers’ mobile phone bills.”

Electric rates for NV Energy customers in Carson City and Northern Nevada would decrease by about 52 cents a month, according to a proposed rate adjustment. The public is invited to a consumer session Tuesday, July 2 to comment on the planned changes. The session is being hosted by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.

NV Energy's application seeks approval of fuel and purchased power expenses for 2012 and to reset several renewable energy and energy efficiency program rates.

On June 20 two Carson City area girls, Katrina Ingersoll and Marcy Martin were in a near fatal ATV accident. Marcy has already been released, yet Katrina is still fighting for her life.

Not all the details are known at this time. As most know these girls have families that are known to help out in times of need. At this time the friends of the girls are asking the community for support in raising funds for these girls and their families.

A 25-year-old Reno man was found guilty of three felony counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, Lyon County Assistant District Attorney Stephen Rye said.

The four-day trial in the Third Judicial District Court in Yerington concluded with the verdict on Friday, June 21. The case was prosecuted by Rye and Damian Sinnott, deputy district attorney for Lyon County.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Fernley Patrol Division and Detective Division, made the arrest and handled the investigation in the case. The crimes occurred in July 2012.
