A three-day trial in Lyon County ended with the conviction of a man accused of stealing property in Mound House and selling it for scrap.

James Vincent Golden, 54, of Reno, was found guilty on Sept. 13 on two counts of grand larceny, a category C felony, and one count of attempted grand larceny, a category D felony, at the Third Judicial District Court in Yerington. Jeremy Reichenberg, Senior Deputy District Attorney, and Orrin Johnson, Deputy District Attorney, prosecuted the case for the Lyon County District Attorney.

The Lyon County Road Division has closed Artesia Road in Smith Valley due to a mud flow from the rain storm over the Bison Fire scar. The mud flow is more than 200 to 300 feet long and may be up to 3 feet deep, according to Lyon County Manager Jeff Page.

The Road Division will be transporting a dozer and other equipment to begin clean up Monday.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Sept. 16-22. Due to continued construction of the Carson City Freeway project, there will be lane closures on South Carson Street between the Spooner Interchange and Snyder Avenue from 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23.

Traffic will be restricted to two lanes in each direction during daytime hours and down to one lane per direction at night.

Carson City Fire Department and rescue personnel were called to a three-vehicle accident this afternoon at the intersection of Saliman and William streets.

The accident was reported at 12:09 p.m., in the westbound lane, tying up traffic along William Street. Minor injuries were reported. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are diverting traffic.

Today, Saturday, is the 12th annual Never Forget 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Parade through Carson City.

Hosted by the Iron Nation Motorcycle Club, festivities begin at the Carson City Harley-Davidson, registration continues through 11 a.m. followed by opening ceremonies, including a presentation of the color guard, guest speakers and the National Anthem.

Justin Carrigan was convicted by a Carson City jury on Thursday of child neglect with substantial bodily harm. The Jury deliberated for approximately 45 minutes before returning a verdict of guilty.

This is the second time a jury convicted Carrigan of this crime. Allegations arose in this case from an incident on September 27, 2010, when Carrigan was the sole caregiver for Rochelle Ellis, a three year old at the time, according to a news release from the Carson City District Attorney's Office.

A 28-year-old Carson City woman faces a felony drug charge after she was arrested Sept. 12 at 10:08 p.m. in the area of Northridge and Roop streets.

Tosha Nicole Whiting was stopped by Carson City sheriff's Special Enforcement Team after deputies saw that she was driving without a license plate light during the hours of darkness.
