Here is the Carson City road maintenance and repair report for the week of July 15-21:

Beginning Sunday, July 14, through Friday, July 19, there will be road closures on Fairview Drive during the night hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. due to maintenance. The closures will occur at locations throughout the project limits from Carson Street to just east of Edmonds Drive and detours will be signed.

Due to continued construction of the Carson City Freeway project the following road closures are in effect: (detours are signed)

— Snyder Avenue between E. Roland Street and Center Drive.

Family and friends of Michelle Marie Stratton, who died Wednesday in a crash on Highway 50 near Six Mile Canyon Road, have establish a fund for the woman's young sons.

Stratton, 43, of Dayton Valley died in the crash, which also killed Ellis Erwin, 73, and Louise Erwin, 72, of Dayton.

There will be a car wash fundraiser Saturday, July 13, for a local Dayton family to raise money to recover the remains of their beloved family member, Steven Larson, who passed away while working out of state.

The car wash begins at 9:30 a.m. at the S & S gas station in Dayton or donations are being taken in an account set up at Greater Nevada Credit Union under Dodey Larson in care of Steve Larson.

Please come out and help this family. The family will also be selling Steve's handmade barnyard woodwork.

Douglas County authorities have arrested a man wanted for a shooting that happened Thursday in Topaz Ranch Estates, said Sheriff Ron Pierini.

Gary Wilson, 44, was taken into custody at 3:45 p.m. Friday afternoon after turning himself into Douglas County Sheriff's Office authorities, according to a news release. He allegedly shot an unidentified person in the shoulder resulting in non-life threatening injuries.

Carson City authorities have detained a man who allegedly cooked up a story to police dispatch that he had been kidnapped in Reno and forced to drive to Carson City.

The suspect told Carson City police dispatch Friday at around 3:15 p.m., that a man forced himself into his vehicle around Victorian Square in Reno and that he was forced to drive from Reno to Virginia City and Carson City. He initially told investigators that he dropped the man off near the exit of College Parkway and the Carson City Freeway.

Bank of the West today announced that Lawrance Evans has joined Bank of the West as a vice president and branch manager in Carson City.

In this role, Evans is responsible for the overall operations, customer service, performance and profitability of the branch, as well as community outreach activities. He’ll be based at the Bank of the West branch located at 2976 N. Carson Street.

This report is for the week ending July 12, 2013 and includes inspections of restaurants, take out restaurants, a coffee shop, a wholesale distributor, a supermarket and a mobile food vehicle.

Grants amounting to $4.5 million from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will go to four Nevada service organizations that assist veterans in the Silver State, Nevada Sen. Harry Reid announced Friday.

U.S. Vets, Vietnam Veterans of California, The Salvation Army, and HELP Social Service organization, each have received grants totaling $4.5 million through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program. This program supports VA’s efforts to prevent at-risk veterans from becoming homeless and rapidly re-house those who have recently fallen into homelessness.

With 80 percent containment, the mop-up and line rehab process has begun on the Bison Fire burning east of Gardnerville, fire officials report Friday morning. As the containment percent rises firefighters and equipment will be released from the Bison Fire and made available for other fires.
