And every year at this time, College of Southern Nevada's Tim Chambers and Western Nevada College's D.J. Whittemore's names would be mentioned as possible replacements.

Barnett had his second straight game in which he went 3-for-3 as he helped the University of Nevada baseball team (31-19-1) come back for an 8-6 win over UC Davis on Tuesday at Peccole Park. Barnett's 14th home run of the season gave the Wolf Pack that 8-6 lead in the seventh inning.

Blueberg, Domitrovich, Charles invited to Major League tryout
Submitted by on Wed, 05/19/2010 - 12:16amCarson High baseball players Colby Blueberg, Nick Domitrovich and David Charles have all been invited to a Major League tryout to be held at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Manogue.
Blueberg, Domitrovich and Charles are among 60 college and high school players who were invited to the tryout which is being held by the Major League Scouting Bureau. Major League and college scouts will attend the tryout.

Shroy wins twice; Carson City seniors come up big at regional meet

The Carson High senior did much better than that, using a blistering late kick to surge from third-place to a gold medal in the event during the Northern 4A Regional Track and Field Championships at Damonte Ranch High School on Saturday afternoon.
Free golf clinic for children in Carson City on Sunday

That's why the foundation and the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Northern California PGA Section will hold a free golf clinic — The 18th Annual Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinic — for children ages 6 to 17 on Sunday, May 16 at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City.
The event begins at 11:45 a.m. and last until 4:30 p.m., with registration running from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
CSN too hot to handle for Wildcats

So that led to another win over College of Southern Nevada, right? Not even close. CSN showed why its arguably the best team in the nation -- and possibly the deepest -- by beating WNC 9-2 on Saturday in the championship round of the Scenic West Athletic Conference postseason tournament in Henderson.
Senators finish third, look to build on momentum for next year

Carson's season came to an end on Saturday at Bishop Manogue in the Northern 4A playoffs as the Senators were eliminated by Damonte Ranch 11-1 in five innings. But Carson's third place finish at zone should serve as a springboard for his young team, Vickrey said, which is losing just three seniors in Daria Leid, Megan Hein and Natalie Morrow.

Ray hit two home runs, but it wasn't enough for the Wildcats in a nonconference game at Indiana as Kentucky lost to the Hoosiers in Bloomington, Ind., 18-17 in 10 innings. Ray helped Kentucky build a 16-8 lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning, but Kentucky couldn't hold on.
