Barbara Lynn Clark is the winner of the 6th Pat Holub Award for her oil painting “Leaving Bodie.” The Pat Holub Award is an award presented by Pat Holub during the Annual Nevada Artists Association’s “Nevada Day Show.”

Construction of Carson City's new 160-unit affordable workforce housing project could begin in March

Dan Stucky, Deputy Public Works Director, gave an update regarding Carson City’s affordable and workforce housing project known as Sierra Flats during Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. The project would create 160 units specifically for those with lower incomes.
Since the project last came before the Carson City board 18 months ago in April, the development team has been able to secure federal funds and grants after overcoming numerous hurdles.
Carson City arrests: Drunk man can't find car at casino, throws fit and breaks slot service light

A 60-year-old Zephyr Cove man was arrested early Thursday morning for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property after allegedly being drunk and breaking a gaming service light fixture at a casino after he couldn't find his vehicle, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
With six league titles, Coach Blair Roman retires as Carson High School head football leader

Coach Blair Roman has retired as Head Football Coach after 14 seasons leading the Senators Football Program. Coach Roman’s record at Carson High School was 81-63. The Senators won 6 league titles under his guidance: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015. His teams also qualified for the playoffs 9 times.
Carson City area weather: Gusty winds Thursday; light valley rain, Sierra snow possible by weekend

Periods of gusty winds have moved into the Carson City, Carson Valley area Thursday morning as part of a weak weather system passing through. By Saturday there's a chance for valley rain and high elevation snow showers, with more unsettled weather ahead late Sunday night into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, sending Diwali greetings to 1.2 billion Hindus of the world, has urged them each to take a vow of “selfless service” on this sacred occasion.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, in a release in Reno today, wished “joy and light in every heart” to all Hindus on Diwali, which falls on November four.
