Carson City arrests: Warrant jail bookings include 1 felony, 6 misdemeanors

A 40-year-old Sparks man was booked early Wednesday into Carson City Jail for a misdemeanor probation violation warrant issued Dec. 4, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

National Honor Society to host blood drive at CHS library

The National Honor Society is having a blood drive in the Carson High School library on Feb. 20 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. According to loveisrespect.org, nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year.

It is critically important that we speak to our kids about what healthy relationships look like and what to do if they turn abusive.

Plus there's a yoga class, Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and more.

Dayton Early Voting for Democratic Caucus Feb. 15

Early Voting for the Democratic Presidential Caucus will be held at the Dayton Senior Center Saturday, Feb. 15 only from 10am to 6pm. Nevada's Democrats will have an opportunity to cast early votes for up to five candidates, in preference order, who are still in the running for delegates to the county, state and national conventions that will select the Democratic nominee for November's presidential election. Former Reno mayor, lieutenant governor Bob Cashell dies at 81

Bob Cashell, the former longtime mayor of Reno and Nevada lieutenant governor known for his big personality, died on Tuesday. He was 81.

Jim Bauserman, a family friend, confirmed the news to The Nevada Independent. Community leaders, including current Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, offered tributes on Tuesday.
