When C.C. Showers, a back-sliding preacher, leaves the pulpit in Kentucky that he’s inherited from his forefathers and sets out to find an honest living for himself, he ends up in the tiny town of Zion, Indiana.

Christiane Brown, a spokesperson for Indivisible Northern Nevada (INNV) will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. The group describes itself as "a grass-roots, volunteer organization committed to supplying consistent, informed and ongoing pressure on our elected representatives to ensure humanitarian values are reflected in public policy."

Carson Fly Fishing Club's Monthly Meeting is Tuesday, November 19, 7 p.m. in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 East Musser Street.

Miller Counseling is partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups to Carson City and the surrounding rural communities Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Miller Counseling and Wellness Center is located at 104 W. Telegraph St. in Carson City.

The Center for Hope and Healing has been providing grief support to Douglas County for the last 10 years. The goal of building this partnership is to make the free support groups available and easier to access to more members of the Northern Nevada community.

Maggie M’s Beginning Art Classes will provide instruction in drawing, sketching, and painting with watercolors and acrylics 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm every Wednesday.

The series “Learning to be Lost” is an introspective journey that embraces the vastness of the desert landscape as a metaphor for navigating uncertainty. Drawing inspiration from desert survival strategies and illusory mirages, I seek to evoke a visceral experience of being lost.”

As part of American Archives Month, the Nevada State Archives unveiled an exhibit highlighting the Nevada Division of Forestry’s (NDF) essential role in protecting and managing Nevada’s lands. The exhibit opened to the public Oct. 1 and will run through Dec. 31 at the Nevada State Archives in Carson City.
