My column is late this week. And, you know what? It’s OK. It’s OK because done is better than not at all. It’s OK because I can get out of my head long enough to forgive myself for how busy I have been. And, guess what else? It’s OK for you to just get things done too.

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Writing from Mars," by artist Rick Parsons at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, February 2, 5-7pm. The exhibit will be in the gallery from February 2 – May 23, 2018.

Senator Square: Beyond Carson High School, CHS grad returns with experience to share

Krysta Scripter, a 2011 CHS graduate, answered the Facebook message of her former Freshman Honors English teacher by returning to her alma mater as a guest speaker to share about how she went from wanting a career as a writer and photographer to being published in The Fresno Bee, Verily women’s magazine, Reno.com, and Babeswhohustle.com just to name a few.

Carson City’s Leisure Hour Club begins the New Year with local author Brooke Santina, whose first novel "Dishrags to Dirtbags" tells the story of a meek housewife’s plunge into the often dangerous and mostly crazy world of law enforcement.
