There's a new group for writers that meets at the Brewery Arts Center; a salary negotiation workshop at WNC, a chautauqua and author presentations at Dangberg Historic Park. There's also the Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival that will feature the Wesley Orsolic Trio during Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC, with jams to continue at Living the Good Life; there's also a real estate workshop for veterans, art showings, salsa dancing and more. Kantu Inka is a duo including Carlos Ocampo and Julie Lozada Ocampo. They bring Peruvian culture alive with dance and traditional instruments such as zampoñas, quenas, charangos, bombos, chacchas, and cajón.

Is the persistent series of cold weather systems normal or not? We spoke with a forecaster from the National Weather Service about it and he noted that everyone has an opinion. Some folks swear this happens every Spring, storm after relentless storm through the entire month of May. Some swear the month of May in western Nevada is usually sunny, in the upper 70s to low 80s and comfortable. Whichever you believe, go with it and enjoy. Here's what's ahead Tuesday:

Emily Richardson, 17-years-old, Sarah Woods, 17-years-old, Keira Serpa, 13-years-old, were all recognized as Gold Key winners.

Introduction to classic mystery novels and films offered at TMCC

The class will examine works by crime and suspense novelists of the 1930s and 1940s and the films that were adapted from their books. Clips from some of the movies of the period will be shown.

American Flat remembered at Saturday film, photo show and lecture

The event includes three parts – a screening of a new documentary that covers the history of the American Flat mill from its inception in the 1920s to its demolition in 2014; a short lecture about the unique qualities of the mill by consulting architectural historian and industrial archaeologist Ron Reno, PhD; and a pop-up show with locals’ rare photos of the site.
