Carson City arrests: Man jailed for felony domestic battery after allegedly choking victim

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation and misdemeanor false imprisonment after the victim was seen by witnesses being dragged by the hair into a residence when she tried to escape a domestic battery situation where she was allegedly choked, a sheriff's deputy said.

Saliman and Robinson: Is this Carson City's worst intersection?

The intersection at Robinson and Saliman is, for the majority of the day, reasonable and quick to get through. However, in the thirty minutes before Carson High School classes begin, and the thirty minutes after school lets out, it is one of the most frustrating intersections in the capital city.

There are nine lanes of traffic that have to navigate the four-way stop signs at this intersection, plus the hundreds of students using all four crosswalks.

On Thursday afternoon, ten minutes prior to school letting out at 2 p.m. and ending at 2:20 p.m., I observed the following:

The following images released Thursday afternoon by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office are of a "vehicle of interest" in the hit and run vehicular homicide that occurred on Six Mile Canyon Road in the Dayton area on Thursday morning, in which an adult male pedestrian and five dogs died.

Coins with the famous “CC” mark of the Carson City Mint are coveted by coin collectors and those minted in 1870 — the first year of operation for the Mint — rank highly among them in terms of historic and monetary value.

On Thursday, the very coin press that minted the original will be recreating replicas of the 1870 Liberty Seated Half Dollar in the same building that produced the originals almost 150 years ago.

According to the report, Special Enforcement Team deputies arrested Jose Joe Gonzales Jr. on a Lyon County Warrant for the offense after learning he was driving a 1990 Chrysler sedan in the area.

Deputies located the vehicle and took him into custody on the warrant.

The woman was arrested after deputies responded to a traffic accident in which the driver who caused the accident appeared to be under the influence, according to the report.

18-year-old Carson City woman arrested after choking mother during argument regarding cat care

An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 1100 block of S. Nevada Street for domestic battery first after an argument over a cat escalated.

According to the police report, a mother and daughter had been arguing over a cat when they became physical.

Deputies made contact with the pair, and spoke to the mother, who had a “very noticeable mark” on her right collar bone and neck area. She said, “she did this to me,” pointing to the 18-year-old daughter, who was walking into the living room.
