The Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City lit the way Saturday night during the Light After Dark Run/Walk fundraiser, an annual benefit for Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

A sold-out crowd packed the Cadillac Cafe inside the Silver Oak Golf and Convention Center in Carson City Friday night, raising much-needed funds for local cancer patient Mark Lindquist.

If your costume isn't ready yet, you'll still have plenty of opportunities between now and Oct. 31. A hypnotic fundraiser for Mark Lindquist takes place at Silver Oak Golf Course this evening.

When the average American hears the word ‘Hypnosis,’ they probably believe that they will be made to silly things like bark like a dog, quack like duck or something much more serious, like rob a bank, or say or do things against their will.

Help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Carson City community by signing up and joining Advocates to End Domestic Violence at its annual Light After Dark Walk and Run event this Saturday, 6 p.m. at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center in Carson City.

The Carson City community has gotten behind one of their own who is in the midst of a cancer fight for his life. When "Mission Remission 2 to Beat Cancer" began it created a rally among friends of Mark Lindquist.

Clinical and Stage Hypnotist Dan Kimm takes his FUNdraising seriously, very seriously. When he heard Mark Lindquist was in desperate need of funds Kimm took an immediate call of action.

Some weekends are pretty cut and dry, just a few things to choose among. This, however, is not one of those weekends. High-flying, death-defying action takes over the Minden Airport as the Aviation Roundup Air Show takes to the skies. Pasta-lovers won’t want to miss the Eldorado Great Italian Festival in downtown Reno. Carson City’s monthly Downtown Wine Walk gets a dose of nostalgia as the Western Airstream Convention sets up shop and welcomes the curious.

One might think that the end of summer means that the fun times are over: they would be wrong. This list of happenings in the Carson City area isn’t getting any shorter. The annual Genoa Candy Dance is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and this weekend welcomes the first ever Silver State Arts Festival at Fuji Park, as well. The first ever Community Garage Sale at the Community Center offers one-stop bargain hunting. Swing into the season at the monthly dance party hosted by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club.

Enjoy these September days, it will be blustery and cold before we know it. Celebrate our neighbor to the east during their annual Dayton Valley Days street festival. Tour their museums, pan for gold, and enjoy samples at their Chili cook-off. Downtown Carson is a hotbed of fun tonight with two pub crawls and the Ghost Walk Haunted History Tour. Avery Hudak, 22, tied for first place in last year’s Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day 5K.
While it was a personal accomplishment for the runner, it was also a victory for her mother, who died from pancreatic cancer in 2014.

On September 13, Carson High School will open its doors a little wider and longer for a back to school night like no other. Open House, Open Hearts is a community event focused on building bridges to local services for teens and their families, increasing parent and guardian engagement at CHS, and celebrating the community, creativity and diverse talents of Carson City.

Please join Carson City Kiwanis on Sept. 16th for their annual golf tournament to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer. We have moved this year to Silver Oak Golf Course and are working at making this bigger and better. Summer is holding on for dear life, and sending a miniature heat wave our way for this long weekend. For those of you not in Black Rock City, the Carson City region offers plenty of recreation and entertainment. Downtown will be hopping with the Farmers Market, monthly Wine Walk, and this season’s last outdoor concert at the Brewery Arts Center – and that’s just Saturday! What are you in the mood for? The Third and Curry Farmers Market is always a great place to start off your weekend. Kids won’t mind getting up early for the Young Eagle airplane flights at the Carson City Airport – they are free of charge for kids 8 – 17, you just need to be on time for registration. The Annual Chili Cook-off returns to Glen Eagles this weekend; with live music, a craft fair, and lots of yummy stuff to eat, raising money for Honor Flight has never tasted so good. Prompted by his 11-year-old son to get involved with the local DARE organization, a Carson City real estate agent is spearheading a golf tournament and kids golf clinic on Saturday, June 17 at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center.

Cadillac Cafe celebrated its grand opening Thursday afternoon, introducing Carson City to yet another dining option for locals and visitors alike.
