Learn the finer points of Improv tonight at the Brewery Arts Center. Chat with ‘The Ghost Lady,’ author Arlene Jenkins at Browsers Corner Book Store. Indulge in some live music at Living the Good Life or Glen Eagles. Singers should check out Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar or the Feisty Goat Pub for karaoke. Dance your blues away with spicy salsa at El Charro Avita or country line dancing at Beercade.

Take it easy at lunchtime and enjoy some bluesy music with Dave Leather at Comma Coffee. Or head down after work for their monthly Artist Reception. Billy Migan will be displaying his exhibit titles Pen Sketches. From there, head south a few blocks for ladies night at the Ormsby Club if you’re the pool playing kind. Lake Tahoe Brewery is the place to be for fun trivia and prizes, bring your friends.

Get your blood pumping with Carson City’s Parks and Rec. Department on this morning’s Easy Walk at Silver Saddle Ranch. Go dancing tonight and take your pick of line dancing at Carson Lanes or beginning swing dance at El Charro’s. Classic movie buffs won’t want to miss out on a showing of the original Little Shop of Horrors at Red’s Old 395.

Jump Around Carson, our city bus, is doing something nice to celebrate its tenth anniversary: free bus rides all day. Here’s a link to the schedule. New artwork has moved into most of the galleries in town. Industrial Art is now at the Library; Divergence just opened at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery; and you’ll find Liz Penniman’s exhibit at the Western Nevada College Gallery.

Tickle your funny bone at first Fridays Improv at the Brewery Arts Center. Satisfy your craving for live music at Sassafras, Bella Fiore, or Living the Good Life. Let the theater feed your soul: Carson High School presents the Importance of Being Earnest at the Community Center.

Seeliger Elementary in Carson City will once again feature crafters, bounce houses, deluxe locally-grown pumpkins, music, food, gift baskets, raffles, a cake walk and lots of games! The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Seeliger Elementary, 2800 S. Saliman Rd.
Come for the best pumpkins in town and stay for a day of family fun!
Oktoberfest brings taste of Germany to Lake Tahoe's Camp Richardson
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/21/2015 - 12:17pmOktoberfest, the yearly celebration of all things German, will have a taste of California on the shores of Lake Tahoe at Camp Richardson Historic Resort and Marina Oct. 3-4.
This popular annual event will feature German beers brewed here in the Golden State. Saint Archer Brewery of San Diego created a beer infused bratwurst exclusively for the event with its IPA. And another San Diego firm, Ballast Point’s Longfin Lager will be on pour.

Nevada 150 events lined up through the end of October

These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Oct. 16 through 30. Highlights of statewide Nevada Day weekend events are forthcoming.
On Friday Oct. 17, come watch the Nevada 150 Pony Express Delivery, on the south steps of the Nevada State Capitol Building in Carson City at 3:30 p.m.

Tours will be at various times throughout September, October and November. Six different Nevada farms will host a wide array of activities and games including corn mazes, petting zoos, pumpkin patches, prizes, and more.

This year’s event will include the usual carnival type games and prizes, bounce houses, face painting and craft booths along with food and of course a pumpkin patch where you can pick out your pumpkins. New to the event this year will be tethered hot air balloon rides; being proved by Remax, Steven Lincolns office. Balloon Rides will start at 8 am.
Halloween Central at Carson Mall

It's back this year, with the addition of the Spirit Halloween store, which has relocated from the now-demolished red barn on South Carson Street where it was last year. And now, there is a pumpkin patch set up in the parking lot, along with a couple of bouncy houses for the kids.
Kids Fishing Day at Carson City’s New Urban Fishing Pond
Submitted by editor on Wed, 10/13/2010 - 10:57amCarson City's newest recreation feature will be dedicated on Oct. 23, along with a Fishing Day, highlighting the opening of the one-acre Urban Fishing Pond.
The event, which runs from 7 a.m. to noon at the Carson City Fairgrounds at 601 Old Clear Creek Road, is free to the public. Sponsors include the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Carson City Host Lions Club, and the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department.
