Wildcats ready to face rival Coyotes in tournament opener

Western Nevada College and College of Southern Nevada will get together to revive their instate rivalry in the opening round of the Scenic West Athletic Conference playoffs on Thursday in a game scheduled to start at noon (MST) in Salt Lake City.

Senators could be darkhorses for State Championships

The road to the NIAA 4A State Championships is always difficult, but the Carson High softball team seems to have received as favorable path as possible. Two Northern 4A teams will advance to state and it figures that High Desert League champion Spanish Springs is the heavy favorite to earn one of those berths. And since Carson isn't in the Cougars' bracket, the Senators could be one of the darkhorses to grab that second spot to state.

Senators clinch third-place in Sierra League

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE -- The Carson High softball team likes the position it's in heading into the Northern 4A playoffs.

CHS officially clinched a berth in the postseason with a 10-2 win over South Tahoe in the opener of a doubleheader on Friday and went on to win the second game as well, 5-0. Carson knew it would have third-place in the Sierra League locked up with a win in the opener after losses by Bishop Manogue and Fallon on Thursday.

Dodging through snow flurries, Senators pick up key win against Manogue

Dodging through snow flurries in a chase for postseason berth. It must be a playoff race on a "typical" spring day in Northern Nevada.

The Carson High softball team took one step closer to realizing its goal of qualifying for the Northern 4A playoffs by winning the opener of a doubleheader against Manogue, 7-2, on Wednesday at CHS. The second game was called in the bottom of the fourth inning with Manogue leading 4-3 due to heavy snow flurries that began to fall.

The heat is on for CHS

RENO – For the Carson High baseball team, the heat is on. But to CHS coach Cody Farnworth, the heat is always on.
"It's on every week," said Farnworth after his team was swept in a doubleheader on Saturday at Galena, losing the opener 10-1 and the nightcap 8-5. "It doesn't change."

A new season between two old rivals will begin on Thursday afternoon when the Carson High softball team visits Douglas for the opener of a three-game Sierra League softball series in Minden.

CHS boys and girls enter playoffs as underdogs

They are the underdogs. And that's the position that the Carson High boys and girls basketball teams like as they enter the Northern 4A playoffs.

CHS girls win final home game against Douglas

To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, this wasn't just an important game, it was the most important game.

CHS boys fall short to Douglas

Especially after Carson High's struggles from the floor, it would have been a finish for the ages.
