Carson City Schools Foundation awards various grants to support students and educators
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 03/09/2020 - 8:59amThe Carson City School District, on behalf of the Carson City Schools Foundation, is pleased to announce winners of mini-grants from Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. The competitive process garners dozens of applications from district educators each semester. In addition to the mini-grants, the foundation has also awarded $2,000 to $3,000 grants for a Department, School or Grade-level projects.

Carson City Caucus Kicks off Saturday

Even still, registered Democrats showed up to participate in their civic duties at their locations around town including Eagle Valley Middle, Carson Middle School and Pioneer High School.

Ostrander, 21, suffered a brain tumor shortly after her 18th birthday. She was forced to spend most of her senior year of high school in hospitals and physical therapy recovery centers.

According to CHS physical education teacher and Leadership adviser Ann Britt, “the class color teachers will be playing a game of life-size Hungry Hippo during the assembly Jan. 17, and we will be doing a door decorating competition with judging taking place Jan. 21; the top three winners will receive a gift card to Starbucks.”
Homicide suspect in custody following Tahoe capture, confesses location of father's body
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 01/04/2020 - 3:58pmA four-hour interview of homicide suspect Sean Purdy in Reno Friday night has led to the discovery of the body of his father, 52-year-old Lance Purdy of Pine Grove, Calif.
At 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2020, detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office met with the 20-year-old suspect at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nev. After approximately four hours of interviewing Sean, detectives said they were able to obtain a confession from Sean and the location of his father’s body.

Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. Carson City schools see hike in graduation rates for fourth straight year

A discussion and possible action will be on the table for proposed capital projects as supported by the facilities master plan committee, including construction of classrooms at Eagle Valley Middle School intended to alleviate student overcrowding at Carson Middle School, in an estimated amount not to exceed $8.2 million, which will be financed by the sale of the 2019B school bonds.

Bill died peacefully at home in hospice care surrounded by loved ones.
