Volunteers, groups sought for Nevada Day Clean-Up

Nevada Day is one of Carson City's biggest events and enjoyed by thousands of people. This year, Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is working closely with the Nevada Day committee to orchestrate a mass clean-up of downtown the day following Nevada Day.

Good morning Carson City, today is Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018. We may get a chance to see something we haven't in a while: Rain showers. The National Weather Service says there's a 30 percent chance today and 70 percent chance Wednesday. Good news for our rather parched city. Among today's featured events are a morning walk and evening hike, a Pony Express celebration in Silver Springs, a viewing of the Hitchcock classic "Rear Window" and more.

Among today's featured events are the Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness campaign Kickoff at Red’s Old 395 Grill, art showings, a candidate luncheon and Monday night football. Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval has ordered flags to half-staff this Monday, Oct. 1 from sunrise to sunset as a mark of respect and in remembrance of the victims of #1October. #VegasStronger

A successful 1st guided Full Moon hike for Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space

On Saturday, Sept. 22, Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space hosted its first full moon guided hike at Prison Hill. While the department does have multiple guided hikes throughout the season, this was the first hike guided during the full moon.

Decision overturned: Carson City rifle and pistol range re-opened

Carson City and its collaborative partner, Carson Rifle and Pistol Club, implemented a modified schedule for its Covered and Prone 300 Yard Rifle Line, due to reports of a possible safety concern at the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range.

Carson City again welcomes the Fathers’ Day PowWow to the Stewart Indian School Campus for a weekend of dancing, vendors and crafts, and community. Now, when I say bicycle invasion, I’m not exaggerating. The Carson City Off-Road hosted by Epic Rides brings mountain bike enthusiasts from all over to compete in our hills. You’ll find downtown road-closures to make way for the race routes, a bike expo, beer garden, and a music festival on Saturday.
