Decision overturned: Carson City rifle and pistol range re-opened
Carson City and its collaborative partner, Carson Rifle and Pistol Club, implemented a modified schedule for its Covered and Prone 300 Yard Rifle Line, due to reports of a possible safety concern at the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range.
The decision was made under the abundance of caution, while the report was carefully evaluated. After a thorough investigation and consultation with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that the report was unfounded and not related to the facility’s operation in any manner. Based on this information, the Rifle Line will be re-open without scheduling restrictions seven days per week effective immediately.
“We appreciate the community’s patience, while we carefully evaluated this situation. We are pleased to report that the safety concern was completely unrelated to the Rifle Range. Safety is our top priority and I am glad we were able to thoughtfully assess the situation in such a short timeframe, so we can get the facility back open for our residents and visitors to use and enjoy. Thank you to Sheriff Furlong and his investigative team at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office for their guidance and making this a priority,” said Jennifer Budge, Parks and Recreation Director.
