The Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is pleased to announce twenty-three graduates, from fifteen NV agencies, will accept their peace officers’ oath as POST Academy Class 2019-02.

A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for suspicion of burglary after allegedly hiding in a sports bar restroom after it had closed and then attempting to take items and leave but couldn't get through the locked door, a sheriff's deputy report states.

Carson City sheriff's deputies make battery, drug-related arrests

A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 12:15 p.m. in the 3200 block of E. Nye Lane for suspicion of misdemeanor battery, a sheriff's deputy report states.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of East Nye Lane in reference to a disturbance. A female called the sheriff's office asking for a deputy and then the phone disconnected.

The 2019 season for CHS girls golf was a great experience for everyone on the team. This year, the team was comprised of five girls: Karen Beglin, Sophia Taggart, Karrina Ferris, Brooke Gudmundson, myself, and our coaches, Wade Greenlee and Jack Butler.

Carson City Rifle and Pistol Club discusses the city ending use agreement for Rifle Range

This afternoon the Carson Rifle and Pistol Club posted the following message for its membership and the shooting public regarding the end of its role assisting the city in operating the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range:

The "use agreement" between the city and the Carson Rifle and Pistol Club will expire on October 18th and the city has declined to renew it. Consequently, the club will no longer provide Range Safety Officers or assist in operating the range as of this Friday.

Prescription drug roundups happening Saturday in Carson City, Dayton and Douglas County

There are a number of prescription drug roundups happening this Saturday, Oct. 19 around the region, including drop-off stations in Carson City, Douglas County and Dayton.

These annual events help protect the community with proper disposal of unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, prescription liquids, pet medications, syringes and more. The effort is part of the federal drug round-up initiative.

On Thursday evening, Pioneer High School JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) students participated in their annual Initiation and Installment Ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion.

The JAG program at Pioneer High School has made positive changes since its implementation just a few years ago. The JAG program teaches life skills to students and allows them to learn skills such as public speaking, taxes, how to apply for scholarships, car loans, and of course, resumes and cover letters, among many other topics.
