Opponents of Las Vegas Raiders Stadium to Protest the Nevada Legislature Special Session
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 10/09/2016 - 10:25pmOn Monday, October 10, 2016, a group of concerned Nevada citizens will protest the special session called by Nevada’s Republican Governor, Brian Sandoval, to approve raising $750 million in room tax revenue to subsidize a stadium for the NFL's Raider's.
According to the article “Governor Call Special Session for Monday,” published in the Reno Gazette Journal, dated October 5, 2016, the proposed amount of $750,000,000 is the largest amount ever put forth for consideration by taxpayers in the history of the publicly funded stadiums.
A Warning About Public Funding of Stadiums
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 10/05/2016 - 8:11amAs our readers know, we’re huge sports fans. So the idea of going to a professional sporting event in our home state of Nevada is very exciting.
And that excitement is resonating across Nevada as the Oakland Raiders are considering relocating to Las Vegas.
However, that excitement alone isn’t enough to justify higher taxes in order to provide public funding for constructing a new stadium. Professional sports are, after all, a business and should be financed on their own.
What Works: Everything you want is on the other side of fear
Submitted by editor on Mon, 10/03/2016 - 3:12pmI just got back from a great trip to the Bay area. What may surprise you is, fear almost talked me out of it. Fear told me my car had been feeling kind of funny and maybe needed a once over from a mechanic before the trip. Fear told me I haven’t seen the friends I was meeting for a long time.

Locker rooms no place for press
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 11/01/2015 - 9:41pmIn spite of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees freedom of the press, there are some places where journalists don’t belong and are simply not allowed: At times inside a court room with closed proceedings, a jury deliberation room, a medical exam room, and in a legal consultation, among other places.
Graham's Word: Kaepernick is Lost, May Need Change....
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 10/28/2015 - 7:54pmIt is not rocket science — Colin Kaepernick is not a pocket passer. The 49ers have tried to turn him into something he is not and it has failed miserably. The organization can’t get that through their heads. Just ask Chris Ault who tried for about a week to make him stay in the pocket while at Nevada. It didn’t work and Ault saw that and subsequently told him to just “run first and pass second” mentality basically.

Graham's Word: MLB's New Domestic Violence/Child Abuse Policy A Start But Very Weak
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 09/02/2015 - 12:57pmMajor League Baseball has recently come out with a domestic violence/child abuse policy. While it is a start, the policy is very weak overall. If you read the policy, that fits on one page, you will see that it leaves a lot of doors open and a lot left to be desired. It has no concrete punishments. This policy is basically up to the Commissioner (just like the NFL, and we all know how well that has gone).
