Megastar and multi-talented artist Justin Timberlake will join superstar athletes and entertainers for the first time this summer at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. The much-decorated performer is an avid golfer who plays to a six handicap and is renowned in the sport for his philanthropic endeavors.

There’s one place where NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB rivalries meet annually to settle old scores. The venue: Lake Tahoe. The event: The American Century Championship. At stake: a share in the $625,000 prize purse. The scene: Six days of fist bumps, high fives, autograph signing, photos with fans, laughs galore and some great golf.

Graham's Word: Jim Harbaugh some of, but not all of the problem in SF

Jim Harbaugh will in all likelihood be coaching his final game as the head coach of the 49ers on Sunday. He wasn’t all the problem, but more so a part of the problematic puzzle the organization has at the moment. The 49ers have a GM in Trent Baalke who is a hard headed, competitive guy, and seems to refuse to work with someone who is the same way (Jim Harbaugh).

Salvation Army Red Kettle challenge Monday brings out 49er, Packer fan bell ringers

The Salvation Army Red Kettles at Walmart on Topsy Lane will have a challenge between the Green Bay Packer’s fans and San Francisco 49ers fans Monday, Dec. 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. The Packers fans will be “bell ringing” at the grocery entrance and the 49er fans will be “bell ringing” at the household entrance.

The Salvation Army is not taking sides on this challenge, but is excited to see some of the local NFL fans come out and help them serve the community.

Major Sports Need Major Overhaul In Domestic Violence Policies

So for the last couple of weeks we have seen the issue of domestic violence come into the forefront of major sports and its athletes. The NFL of course taking most of the attention with the Ray Rice turmoil. MLB has also been put into the spotlight when its commissioner Bud Selig was asked about the issue during his farewell tour in San Francisco. Here is part of what he had to say on the subject:

Carson City Raiders Booster annual fundraiser and auction this Sunday at Carson Lanes

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club's annual fundraiser and auction is this coming Sunday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carson Lanes Eleventh Frame Lounge, 4600 Snyder Avenue.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for 20 homebound seniors in the community (our list of seniors and their modest wish lists are supplied to us by the Meals on Wheels program).

Each year our members shop, wrap, deliver and visit each home bound senior on our list. It's always a heart-warming experience to help make these seniors' holidays more merrier.

Champion hot wings served up tangy Buffalo style will find a home in Carson City beginning next month when the Buffalo Wild Wings franchise opens its doors on South Carson Street.

To be sure there's a packed grand opening at the sports bar and restaurant being built at 3815 South Carson Street, the owners are offering quite an incentive: Free wings for a year for the first 100 people who walk in the door at 11 a.m. Nov. 18.

Colin Kaepernick or Alex Smith? That is the question that Jim Harbaugh must answer, and answer for good before next week’s game in St. Louis. It does not serve a locker room well when there is a rift or questions left unanswered. Inconsistency can damage a team’s chemistry, and at this point that is the last thing San Francisco needs. Yes, the 49ers appear to have a problem that every team would love to have. They have two quarterbacks that are very capable of winning, but only one should be the everyday starter, and the team deserves to know it.
