Carson Montessori School recently visited the Nevada Humane Society in Carson City. In the spirit of giving this holiday season, the school children along with their principal, Jessica Barlow Daniels, dropped off canned dog and cat food, a check for $250 and $4.78 in cash.
"It was very kind and very sweet. The kids were thrilled," noted Kimberly Wade, Senior Manager of Communications and Events for the Nevada Humane Society.

'Tis the Season, Carson City! Holiday cheer is in the wind, and we have plenty of wind right now. This weekend is jam-packed with food and toy drives, concerts, and Santa-sightings, so bundle up and have a fun time enjoying our great city.

Nevada Humane Society will join the ASPCA, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Subaru of America for the annual year-end Subaru Share the Love event through the holiday season. As part of this national effort, Nevada Humane Society and Michael Hohl Subaru have teamed up to create offsite adoptions at the Carson City dealership this Saturday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Another door has opened for animal welfare Carson City is proud to announce the official grand opening of Nevada Humane Society Carson City just in time for the holiday season. On Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m., the Carson City Chamber of Commerce will host a special ribbon cutting in honor of a new beginning for homeless pets.

This week's It's Your City is with Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell. Before providing an update on the Board of Supervisors, Crowell takes time to update citizens about local happenings including the Dec. 3 open house and ribbon cutting at the Nevada Humane Society Carson Shelter. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. at 3770 Butti Way. The public is invited.

The whimsical musical follows the adventures of a small-town doctor in Victorian England who uses his special gift of being able to talk with animals to learn more about the world. In this musical, Doctor Dolittle becomes the world’s greatest animal doctor by learning how to speak the thousands of different dialects of creatures.

Each year, nearly 4 million dogs in the U.S. enter animal shelters. Each year, up to 40% never find a home. Luckily, at Nevada Humane Society that is not the case — but still, there are plenty of dogs who need a home this October during Adopt a Shelter Dog month.

Looking for a 2015 calendar that will help you plan your year, offer cool pet tips, and of course, benefit homeless pets? You can purchase the inaugural 2015 Pets on Patrol Calendar featuring beloved pets around the community and esteemed Reno Police Officers for just $12 through Nov. 15. Calendar proceeds benefit homeless pets at Nevada Humane Society.

You’re invited to join Nevada Humane Society for the inaugural Creatures Costume Fundraiser Ball, a special event presented by the Reno News and Review and hosted at Bourbon Square Casino. The Halloween style gala will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and proceeds benefit homeless pets.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the CASI 5K9 and the CASI Pooch Plunge to support our efforts to help Carson City build the new animal shelter. Smiles were everywhere as the tails wagged behind running and swimming dogs! The people in our community continue to be incredibly supportive of CASI’s mission to help homeless, abandoned and lost animals have the best chance possible at being adopted or reunited with families that love them. Lisa Helget, a city supervisor candidate in Ward 1, charged Wednesday the Nevada Humane Society began operating the city’s animal shelter without a Carson City business license.

I want to thank the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors for their recent approval of entering into a contract with the Nevada Humane Society to run our existing and soon-to-be-built animal shelter.

A job fair hosted by the Nevada Humane Society is being held today at the Carson City Courtyard by Marriott, 3870 South Carson Street in Carson City.

The fair is for positions available for Nevada Humane Society’s second location in Carson City. They are hiring for animal care staff, veterinary assistants, customer service, maintenance, animal behavior evaluators, licensed vet technicians. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As many as 45 employers will take part in a job fair on Friday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.
Sponsored by Carson City Health and Human Services, Job Opportunities in Nevada (JOIN), and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce the Sept. 26 fair, located in the large gym of the community center at 851 East William Street, is open to the general public and all job seekers. Veterans will be able to enter the Job Fair at 1:30 p.m. for early admission.

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell provides an update on the actions taken by the Board of Supervisors at its Thursday, Aug. 7 meeting.

But before that Crowell addresses the success of the NV 150 Fair held at Fuji Park in Carson City earlier this month. He offers thanks to the countless volunteers, 4-H groups, FFA, city employees, as well as the efforts of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce who helped sponsor the event as well as Casino Fandango, which allowed fair participants to park and shuttle to and from the fairgrounds.

After more than a year plagued with internal problems and public criticism, Carson City Animal Services has entered into a partnership with the Nevada Humane Society in what Carson City Manager Nick Marano calls "a new chapter in animal services in the capital city."

Carson City has reached a conceptual agreement with the Nevada Humane Society, Nevada’s first and most highly regarded animal welfare group, in a new partnership to lead Carson City’s Animal Services, to include adoptions, shelter, and regulation services, said Marano.
