Carson Valley Trails Association Celebrates National Trails Day on June 3

The Carson Valley Trails Association will present Carson Valley Trails Day, a celebration of the American Hiking Society's National Trails Day, on Saturday, June 3. Events are planned at two trails - the Fay-Luther Trail in Gardnerville and the Bently Heritage Trail in Minden.

NDOW: Wolf sighted in Northwestern Nevada

Nevada Department of Wildlife wardens successfully released four orphaned bear cubs into the Lake Tahoe back country on Wednesday.

Last April, an 18-year-old female bear with four cubs — two males and two females — died of unknown causes on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. She left the cubs, weighing seven to 10 pounds, wondering where their next meal would come from.

The Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation is financially partnering with the Carson City Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department to install a vault toilet at the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range.

The Foundation recently donated $6,210 towards this needed project which will be used as a cash match for a Nevada Department of Wildlife Hunter Education/Shooting Range Program Grant.

The water level is up 12 feet from this time last year, both of the boat launches will be open. The Topaz Landing Marina will be open with rental boats this year.
