It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region packed with excitement over the next three days. Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

Heading into Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, events around the capital city region include a morning hike at Lake Tahoe, a Healthy Communities meeting in Virginia City, a cross-country convoy of vintage military vehicles that will make a stopover at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, activities at the Carson City Library, book author presentations at the Nevada State Library and Archives and the Brewery Arts Center, food trucks at Mills Park and more. Good morning and good day, Carson City. It is Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019. There's a remembrance this evening at the 911 Memorial at Mills Park beginning at 6 p.m., hosted by Carson City Christian Ministerial Fellowship. Also today is a health screening available through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, art workshops and showings, a farm to fork tour in Douglas County, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC and more.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team concluded a 3-month long narcotics investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine at 1596 County Road in Minden.

Early Tuesday morning, Douglas SET, members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team as well as the Tri-Net Narcotic Task Force conducted a pre-dawn search warrant leading to the arrest of four individuals.

MINDEN — The Douglas County Community Services Foundation and Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, through Vail Resorts EpicPromise have inked an agreement for a lifetime naming right sponsorship of the planned two-story world-class climbing wall in the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in Gardnerville.

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3300 block of S. Carson Street Thursday afternoon for domestic battery.

Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days, which include guided tours at the Nevada State Museum, movie showings at Mills and Schulz Ranch Park, a school supply car cruise and Bingo fundraiser at the Carson Mall, trash pickup at Lake Tahoe, a Rolling Stones tribute band at Carson Nugget, Virginia City’s Labor Day Parade and more!

Casinos in the Carson City area had a gaming revenue increase by nearly 3.8 percent in July, while gaming establishments at south shore Lake Tahoe increase by nearly 17 percent, according to a report released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

CARSON CITY — Northern Nevada Development Authority announced the winners Thursday of its annual Pioneer Awards. Winners will be honored and celebrated during the 5th Annual NNDA Pioneer Awards and Gala being held on Nov. 7, 2019.

The Douglas County Sheriff is looking for volunteers to join our friendly Citizen Patrol group who provides valuable services for the people of Douglas County. We provide VIN verifications for people bringing in vehicles from out of state; we do vacation checks for residents while they are traveling; we enforce handicap parking; and red tag and tow abandoned vehicles as needed. We also assist with traffic control whenever the Sheriff’s Department needs assistance and help with special events.

Hello fellow anglers, Just returned from a couple weeks of fishing from our local area to the Rogue River Valley in Oregon. The day we arrived, they had a wild fire that started at 200 acres and by the next day it was over 10,000. Grants pass was smokey and hard to breath, so Renee, my cousin Steve and I ventured to Brookings OR to do some salmon fishing.

There's also the Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival that will feature the Wesley Orsolic Trio during Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC, with jams to continue at Living the Good Life; there's also a real estate workshop for veterans, art showings, salsa dancing and more. Craft Show - A Touch of Class Craft Show is October 24-26, 2019 at the Carson Valley Inn, Minden. 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. This is a boutique style craft show with central cashiers and no booths! All products are handmade by 30 crafters. Admission is FREE with hourly door prizes. The first 100 customers to bring in a nonperishable food item to help support the food closet will receive a small handmade gift. Carson Valley comedian Kat Simmons will offer her stand up comedy workshop only once this year. The six-week workshop will be held on Monday nights, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7 through Nov. 11, 2019, at the COD Casino in Minden.

Carson City Division, U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps is having a Car Wash Fundraiser in Dayton, Nev. at the Valero, 215 US-50 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 17.

Nevada Humanities will welcome author Willy Vlautin at a series of events throughout northern Nevada during the month of September. Mr. Vlautin is the author of Don’t Skip Out On Me, a 2019 pick for Nevada Reads—a statewide, public book club offered by Nevada Humanities. Nevada Reads invites Nevadans to read selected works of literature and to come together in their communities to share ideas and perceptions inspired by the book club selections.
