Carson Lanes Open House Continues Through Sunday in Carson City

This weekend Carson Lanes invites the public to an open house to celebrate new changes that were made. The open house is filled with contests, a bounce house, games and live music.

The open house began Saturday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Tonight, Saturday, the Band Intent will play through 11:30 p.m. in the Eleventh Frame Winners Lounge.

Grand Opening of Carson Lanes in Carson City Aug. 7-8

Carson Lanes had undergone a major renovation and expansion of its Synder Avenue facility and wants all of Carson City to know about it.
That's why it will celebrate with a huge weekend open house, complete with contests, kids carnival, dance demonstrations, games, live music, a dunk tank and $2,000 in free prize giveaways.
The fun begins Saturday, Aug. 7 with bowling and happy hour deals and random gift card drawings throughout the day. A ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 11 a.m.
The classic rock band Band Intent will play from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.

The 17th Taste of Downtown brought Carson City citizens together again, celebrating what makes the community rich in spirit despite the hard economic times. The annual event brought people of all ages and backgrounds together to celebrate and give to a temendously worthwhile and much-supported organization, Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

Carson City Contradance for Fun

Join Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools students in a public Contradance, 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive.
Learn the steps to the jig, reel, and waltz. Dance to live music with the students and leaders Sue Kitts, Chris Bayer, Steve Suwe, and Gary Lyon. Admission is free and all are welcome. Chorus of the Comstock at Nevada State Railroad Museum

The Chorus of the Comstock lead by director, Jim Crowley, presents songs of tribute for the celebration of 100 years, to the day, that the McKeen motor car arrived in Carson City for the V&T Railway, and, the culmination of a 12 year and nearly one million dollar restoration effort for this unique antique railway transport car. The program included the patriotic theme selections, “This is My Country”, “America the Beautiful”,”Armed Forces Medley” and “ God Bless America”. Barbershop quartets, "Miners" and "Assisted Living" entertained at Wabuska depot and the State Museum building.

Minden's local charter school is having a Peddler's Faire for their fund raiser this year. There will be a huge rummage sale and a chili cook-off as well as vender's selling their wears! The kid's will be doing fencing and archery demonstrations through out the day and there will be live music by Tuck Williams and Michelle Supelana-Mix.

Ski Patrol races at Squaw Valley

April 16 through April 18, 2010, Squaw Valley is hosting the first ever nation-wide Professional Ski Patrol Olympics. Competitions ranging from simulated bomb throws to a GS race down some of Squaw Valley’s most difficult terrain will take place by the Headwall chairlift on Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18.
Spectators and patrollers alike can watch the head-to-head battles from theCornice II snow lounge featuring barbequed food and PBR for sale.
Patrollers from all over the country and Canada will be competing for glory and a $1,500 cash purse and prizes compliments of Helly Hansen.
