John Tyson to bring cowboy music, poetry tonight to Gold Hill Hotel lecture series
Submitted by editor on Wed, 11/04/2015 - 4:01pmVIRGINIA CITY — Local celebrity and cowboy music performer John Tyson will bring his “American Cowboy” show back to the Gold Hill Hotel on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Tyson, a Vietnam veteran, has worked as a law enforcement officer, range manager, working cowboy, train engineer, entertainer and journalist. He is best known regionally as a former reporter for KOLO-TV Channel 8. But he is also well known for his cowboy songs and poetry, and stories about cowboys of the Old West.

Comstock Foundation hosts October history lecture series

The location of the lectures will rotate around the communities of the Comstock: Dayton, Silver City, Gold Hill and Virginia City. Tickets to attend the lectures vary between $5 and $10, and light refreshments will be provided for a donation.

September 11, 2001 is burned into our collective memory. At 8:30 a.m. this morning there will be a memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial in Mills Park where an I-beam from the fallen towers now serves as a reminder. Even if you cannot make it to the ceremony, please take a moment of silence to remember.
