Know Your Enemy/Understand Your Enemy Part 3: Conclusion (sponsored)
Submitted by admin on Thu, 05/26/2016 - 12:05pmNo one should have to fight blindly against the enemy — knowledge IS power, and the truth of any situation even more powerful. No one has ever had all the facts for a set of circumstances or a certain situation, only God has the entire picture, so human expertise has its limitations. However, gathering as many facts as possible, organizing them in a logical progression, studying them carefully, looking for strengths and weaknesses, can ultimately bring together a rather comprehensive picture for all to see.

Trump’s Wrong; We Need Many More Legal Immigrants
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 07/08/2015 - 9:09am“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Those were Donald Trump’s words about Mexican immigrants in announcing he’s running for President.
We take strong exception to all that. And, having labored long in the political fields with other dedicated limited-government conservatives and Republicans, we know those are not the views of most of our folks.
America has not always welcomed legal immigrants with open arms, but we should -- now more than ever. Overall, they are a blessing to us just as America is a blessing to them.

Nevada Congressman Amodei votes to defund President’s executive actions on immigration
Submitted by editor on Wed, 01/14/2015 - 10:42amUPDATE: Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-2) voted Wednesday in favor of H.R. 240, the FY 2015 Homeland Security Appropriations bill, which included amendments to defund the President’s executive action on immigration. Nevada Sen. Harry Reid said the legislation, which passed 236 to 191, would put national security at risk.
The vote makes good on the House Republican strategy to use a three-month Continuing Resolution to delay a vote on the DHS appropriations bill until that time it could be passed and sent to a Republican-controlled Senate in the 114th Congress.
Column: Will immigrants pay back taxes?
Submitted by editor on Tue, 12/23/2014 - 9:52amThe Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 Reno paper had an article “Will Immigrants pay Back Taxes.” As I read that, I wondered if anyone had really tried to guess how much taxes an immigrant living illegally might pay if they lived in the U.S. for five years.
There seems to be some confusion on whether they must pay back taxes. The Obama administration indicated the president “misspoke when he said that immigrants would have to ‘pay back taxes.'" The bill seems to say they, among other things would have to have “satisfied any applicable Federal tax liability."

I Am Now Afraid of PK's Puffery
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 10/22/2014 - 9:48amI recently received an overly large mailer from PK O'Neill, a candidate for Assembly District 40. What he says is disturbing. He pontificates without solutions. He seems more concerned with cliches than real issues.
PK is not alone when making political claims. For another example, see Maizie Harris Jesse's letter “Candidates need to research lt.gov.job duties” in 17 October Nevada Appeal.

Column: IRS telephone scammers target victims with threats
Submitted by editor on Tue, 06/03/2014 - 1:44pmThe IRS has warned repeatedly of a massive, sophisticated telephone scam. IRS warned of this scheme last October, then Feb. 27, 2014 and again March 20, 2014.
The scam is when victims are contacted by telephone and usually told they are entitled to big refunds or that they owe money that must be paid immediately to IRS.
