Editor's Note: Carson Now asks its readers to use their real name with submissions. We received this submission today from "a concerned citizen." Because of what they found, and the fact that Nevada is generally always in a state of fire danger, we thought we'd let this one slide.

Camping season is upon us, and the weather is getting nice. It's that time of year when people like to get out and have a good time in the great outdoors camping, four-wheeling, hiking etc. It's fun to enjoy our open spaces.
Just remember, it's important to be responsible while we're all living it up outside.

Mountaintop cameras from the University of Nevada, Reno spotted or tracked 240 fires in Nevada and California in 2017. This helped to keep firefighters more situationally aware and able to mount appropriate responses more rapidly over tens of thousands of square miles of forests and rangelands, including rural communities.

UPDATE 2:20PM: A Red Flag Warning issued earlier this morning has been canceled due to arriving precipitation. A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday. A Flood Watch was issued Wednesday afternoon for the Carson City region, western Nevada and Lake Tahoe.

With valley gusts expected to top 70 mph today, the National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Red Flag Warning for the Sierra Front including Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley and Lyon County.

The fire danger level has been dropping due to recent moisture and predicted cooler temperatures.

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Carson Ranger District will lift its temporary shooting restriction on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Fire officials on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest would like to remind the public that the fire danger level is still high. Human-caused wildfires remain a major concern heading into the upcoming weekend.

There will be some temporary road closures on Monitor and Ebbetts passes south of Markleeville. Yes, Ebbetts Pass is now open. Most any place you go in Alpine County this weekend there will cyclists on the road.

With fire danger worsening around Western Nevada and the upcoming July 4 holiday period, law enforcement and fire agencies are warning people not to ignite fireworks. Not only are they potentially dangerous and could touch off wildfires, but they’re also illegal.

Carson City Fire Department, Sheriff's Office and Parks, Recreation and Open Space officials appear in a video produced Friday that explains a shooting ban on city, state and federal land due to extreme fire danger.

Due to the risk of wildfires, the Carson Ranger District will be instituting a temporary shooting restriction. This restriction will go into effect on Friday, June 30, and remain in effect until Saturday, Sept. 30 or until conditions change, the U.S. Forest Service announced Thursday.

Hello fellow anglers, as Memorial Day weekend arrives, our local forecasters say we will have plenty of great weather to fish and have fun. Please use caution when fishing any of the rivers and streams in our area. With warming temperatures, our waters have risen and are moving very fast.

Registration is open for the Northern Nevada Wildfire Awareness Multi-hour Trail Event hosted by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Living With Fire Program in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management and Desert Sky Adventures. All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.

National Weather Service forecasters say it is likely that a weather system expected to arrive later this week will bring strong, gusty winds to the Carson City region beginning late Thursday into Friday and mountain rain and snow that could affect travel through the weekend.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a significant change in the weather late this week and into the weekend, announcing that confidence is increasing for a high wind event Friday with strong winds continuing Saturday and Sunday.

As a low pressure system and cold front approach the region, winds will increase and become strong and gusty Friday afternoon and evening, prompting a Red Flag Warning by the National Weather Service.

Fire restrictions on public land in Western Nevada, in place since June 30, will be lifted this Friday, Sept. 30, agency managers announced Wednesday. The Carson City Fire Department, however, has no intention at this time of lifting fire restrictions within the city limits.

Fire season is still in full swing, regardless of clouds in the sky and a few rain drops; Carson City is at risk, just one spark away from a major fire. Weather conditions play a very integral part in the daily planning and readiness level for fire agencies.

Gusty winds will arrive in the region Wednesday and continue through Friday, especially from the Reno and Carson City area northward into far northeast California and northwest Nevada causing forecasters to be concerned about fire danger.

Hello fellow anglers and welcome to Independence Day weekend 2016. The weather is hot and the fishing is picking up. The roads will be busy and patience will be thin. Take your time and watch for anglers jumping from hole to hole, especially around the rivers. With our dry and hot temperatures, a few things to remember:

The Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Nevada Division of Forestry have announced the implementation of fire restrictions for all state and federally owned lands. In addition, the Carson City Fire Department has now implemented fire restrictions on city and privately owned lands within Carson City.

Low pressure will bring gusty winds and cool temperatures into Friday with the highest winds on Wednesday as a cold front moves through the region. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 11 p.m. for the Sierra front, which includes Carson City.

CARSON CITY — Nevada endured a harsher than recent mild winters, which brought much-needed moisture to the region. While this moisture is responsible for picturesque sceneries, it can also lead to greener plants, and denser grass — in other words: fire fuel.

Dry conditions will continue around Carson City with increasing winds Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Gusts up to 40 mph are expected Thursday, with stronger gusts up to 45 mph Friday, mainly during the afternoon and evening.

You can probably take ‘beach day’ off of your agenda. Spring has been briefly usurped by a blustery chill. Grab a coat and hit the town anyway. The early spring farmers market downtown, the Cops and Kids event at the Sheriff’s Department, and the Annual Relay for Life at Mills Park are still a good time. It's been a great run, full of great memories, but sooner or later all good things must come to an end, and Oct. 31 is that special time for the two of us.
