Fans of the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation’s Take Me Fishing campaign took to Facebook this summer, to participate in Nature’s Waterpark Showdown. 
Each fan was invited to help determine the top eight natural “waterparks,” or state parks, for boating and fishing in America.  They could also enter for a chance to win the grand prize: a vacation to a state park for a family of four. 

Join in on family fun at the Nevada State Museum Discovery Lab on Saturday, Sept. 8. This month's program features Beastly Encounters: Animals of Nevada from 1-3:30 pm. Observe skulls, scat, tracks and feet and make a bookmark with animal tracks to take home. Free with regular paid admission: $8 for adults; free for museum members and children 17 and under. The Karson Kruzers 28th Annual Run-What-Cha-Brung car show is this weekend, June 22-24th and they are looking for vendors, judges, participants, and visitors! 

On Friday, June 8, 2012, Heavenly Mountain Resort will begin operating the Heavenly Gondola seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for sightseeing, hiking and dining. The Tamarack Express Chairlift will also operate, accessing miles of hiking trails with the best views of Lake Tahoe.

Celebrating National Train Day, the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s historic 1910 McKeen motor car will ride the rails from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12 in Carson City.

Now a stellar attraction for rail enthusiasts and family fun, the McKeen Motor car operated from 1910 to 1945 racking up more than a half-million miles between Reno and Minden. The prestigious car became a diner and an office but was rescued by the museum when it was donated by the Bernhard family of Carson City in 1995.

This year, Silver & Snowflakes Holiday Tree Lighting is becoming a new tradition, Silver & Snowflakes Festival of Lights and it begins on Friday evening, December 2nd.

Wally’s Pizza and Subs is helping raise critical funding for breast cancer research by donating twenty-five percent of its sales from Friday, Oct. 7 to the Karen Mullen Breast Cancer Foundation, a national charity based in Seattle.

The first annual 'Bowling for Boobs' (a benefit for breastcancer.org) will be held at the Carson Lanes Family Fun Center on Saturday, October 8th. Registration is at 5pm and the event goes from 6pm-11pm. Carson Lanes Family Fun Center is located at: 4600 Snyder Avenue in Carson City. Some of the things that will take place during the event are: Bowling (of course), Door Prizes, Silent Auction, Food and Drink Specials, Music, Karaoke, and much more.

The Silver City Community Partners, formerly known as the Silver City Task Force, has announced a full summer schedule of community events and programs. The tightknit community of Silver City works together to offer a free summer youth program, monthly community dinners, cultural events, a volunteer library, cooking lessons, and a community garden.

A family fun event to emphasize healthy lifestyle choices for children will be held today, Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Carson Mall Center Court from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and open to all.

Carson Area Wellness Association will host an afternoon of “Carsonopoly”, a board game that’s just like Monopoly, but with Carson City businesses and landmarks on the board instead.
 If you like Monopoly, you’ll love Carsonopoly. Using the very same premise of the world-famous game, Carsonopoly takes the player on a tour of Carson City. Have fun, and learn about the town too!

Carson City's newest recreation feature will be dedicated on Oct. 23, along with a Fishing Day, highlighting the opening of the one-acre Urban Fishing Pond.

The event, which runs from 7 a.m. to noon at the Carson City Fairgrounds at 601 Old Clear Creek Road, is free to the public. Sponsors include the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Carson City Host Lions Club, and the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department.

Every Monday is Dollar Day at the all new Carson Lanes Retail Center. Bowling is just $1 per game, and shoe rental is also $1. The Alley's Diner features $1 food and drink items.
