Live auction for Carson City benefit Under the Stars concert grows, includes experience packages

Now in its 11th year, the Concert Under the Stars begins 5:30 p.m. July 10 at the Eagle Valley Golf Course, 3999 Centennial Park Dr. in Carson City. The evening includes world-class and legendary music by Poco, Pure Prairie League and Firefall — as well as the live auction which takes place between performances.

Carson City Symphony’s 'Strings in the Summer' program begins July 8

A Bumpy Ride across Carson Skies: an overly-dramatized recount of flying in a single-engine plane on a breezy day
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 06/29/2019 - 3:47pmThe first time I rode in a small plane was at the Carson City Airport Open house. I was probably 5, my brother probably 8, along with our dad who took us to geek out over the WWII planes and tanks.
The pilot offered us a ride, and we climbed aboard a small orange-and-white plane with a bench seat in the back and two seats in the front. My dad sat beside the pilot, my brother and I strapped in the back.
About thirty seconds after take-off, my brother and I noticed something horrific to our child-minds: in the back of the cockpit, buzzing around beside us, was a bee.
Carson City Airport Open House soars above expectations

“Where I’m from, it’s cows, sows and plows,” she explained. “Here, it’s more than that. It’s public speaking. It’s leadership. It’s the greenhouse. It’s a lot more than ranching.”

Nevada librarians catalog virtual reality content for worldwide access

Nevada participants gathered at the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records in Carson City to input the first virtual reality content into WorldCat OCLC, the world’s largest library catalog.

Nevada continues to add jobs in May, unemployment holds steady at 4 percent
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 06/19/2019 - 10:51amCARSON CITY — May employment in Nevada increased by 5,900 jobs over the month and is up 55,200 over the year while the state’s unemployment rate at 4 percent, remained unchanged from April, and is down 0.6 percentage point compared to May 2018, according to figures released Wednesday by the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
Carson City Library's inflatable planetarium canceled, will be be rescheduled

The inflatable, 16-by-11-foot planetarium, was scheduled for Monday, but has been postponed by the host company. The planetarium will be rescheduled for a later date.

Experience the night sky with a personalized tour from Mobile Ed Productions. As part of the Carson City Library’s Summer Learning Challenge, the Sky Dome Planetarium will be set up Monday in the gymnasium of the Carson City Community Center.

Carson City Airport Open House to Benefit Eagle Valley Children’s Home
