Carson City School Board, Board of Supervisors to host joint meeting on June 20
On Thursday, June 20 the Carson City School Board and the Carson City Board of Supervisors will hold a joint meeting in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.
On the table for discussion are joint use agreements, collaborative efforts, Assembly Bills, and more.
First up is a discussion regarding a possible revision of the Joint Use Agreement of facilities between Carson City and the Carson City School District.
Next, Nicki Aaker will host a presentation regarding collaborative efforts between Carson City Health and Human Services and the Carson City School District.
Superintendant Richard Stokes and AJ Fueling will provide an informational update on Assembly Bill 244 which allows the imposition of a property tax in certain counties to fund capital projects of the school district based on the recommendations of an advisory committee. Approval would come from the Board of Supervisors, and voters.
A brief overview of the new waste management service and an overview of educational offerings relating to a school recycling program will be presented by Kendra Kostelecky, Bret Hansen and Mark Korinek.
In addition, Mark Korinek will also host an informational update on capital improvement projects in the Carson City School District in Pioneer High School, Mark Twain Elementary and Fremont Elementary.
A presentation and discussion on a Virtual Reality Collaborative Project between the Carson City Library and the Carson City School District will be given by Ermal Reinhart.
Finally, a discussion to determine future joint meeting agenda topics, meeting dates and times will be held.
Public comment is welcome as with all public meetings.
