When the Carson City Downtown Business Association (DBA) says the monthly Wine Walk is held rain, snow or shine, it isn't kidding around.

Carson City's downtown business and historic districts were bustling Saturday with Wine Walk participants enjoying sights and sips, despite cool, wet weather that failed to dampen their spirits.

This weekend calls for a celebration, because the first Saturday of March is upon us and that means the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk come rain, snow, wind or shine. And get this: Today's Wine Walk is the last one before Spring.

Happy Groundhog Day, Carson City! While the prognosticating Punxsutawney Phil looks for his shadow in western Pennsylvania, our region is bracing for more Winter weather due to arrive this weekend.

Phil might speak for his neck of the woods, where he bats about .390, but I would keep an eye on our critters here to determine how much more Winter we have left.

CARSON CITY — Fifth graders from all six public elementary schools as well as Carson Montessori and Saint Teresa’s will perform as a unified holiday choir for the 30th annual Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights on the Capitol steps in downtown Carson City this Friday.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City hosted its Safe Halloween Celebration on Sunday, October 28. There was trick or treating as well as spooky Halloween crafts for kids and their parents.

It’s that time again. Time to validate your passports to downtown Carson City. For the the third year, businesses are once again opening their doors to customers for the Passport to Downtown on Friday.

Blinky Man has quickly become one of Carson City's most popular events, and is now into its sixth year of existence.

This season's event is the 12th organized ride, and will take place Friday, October 26 beginning at 6 pm with the first stop at the Tap Shack at 112 Rice Street. The event is free and open to the public, and all are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Four-legged residents posed a curiosity for participants of the September Wine Walk, a monthly event sponsored by Carson City's Downtown Business Association.

After five years with the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority, Kyle Horvath has announced will be leaving July 15 to take the position as tourism director of White Pine County.

The Nevada Artists Association is presenting “Spring Has Sprung,” a new show of works by member artists at its gallery at 449 King Street in Carson City. The show will run from April 2 to May 4 at the spacious, recently refurbished gallery, adjacent to the Brewery Arts Center complex.

Carson City Library staff will soon begin packing up materials in anticipation of closing for up to eight weeks during a project to refresh the interior.

Some people do all of their holiday shopping on Black Friday. Others do their best to avoid shopping completely and spend the day after Thanksgiving relaxing at home. The tone of Black Friday can be equally mixed with retail businesses large and small.

Everywhere you look, we are ready for Halloween: skeletons and cobwebs, pumpkins and monsters, witches and headstones. Tonight is the real deal. Join the Downtown Business Association for the ‘Passport to Downtown’ with live music, a raffle, craft and vendor show, and a family fun center, complete with petting zoo. Stick around for the annual fall Blinky Man Costumed Nighttime Bike Ride Pub Crawl with Lights. Halloween festivities, a carnival in Mills Park, and opening night of the La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow are on today’s list, as well.
