Almost 3 million more people voted for Hillary Clinton than for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, yet it is Trump’s pardon that saves a Thanksgiving turkey's life and whose signature on an executive order can change American lives in an instant.

My philosophy? Ok… Maybe a few questions: After long evaluation, I have decided to write down some of my philosophy and personal thoughts, politics included, which may or may not be agreed with.

Democrats competing in the Congressional District 2 primary have poured tens of thousands of dollars into the race in the hopes of pulling off a historic first: winning a Northern Nevada seat no Democrat has ever won.

The polarizing attitudes and ideology that has taken over the American political environment -- as witnessed in recently-held political debates and rallies, nationwide -- is a danger to traditional American democratic values of diversity and respect of the “marketplace of ideas”, where people are not listening to each other, where respect for diversity is lacking, where the prevailing political attitude seems to be “my way or the highway”.

This is the third in my series on the sad legacy we Boomers are leaving our children.

The first column defined the public interest as mainly maximizing economic growth. That piece and the second showed that the economic policies, practices and institutions that maximize growth also promote fairness among individuals. They also debunked obsessions with income inequality.

Here I focus on the revival of progressivism and liberal statism, plus the addition of political correctness (PC).

Democrats have hit a new low. Beyond Antifa. Beyond plain socialism. Beyond the Clinton lies and corruption. Beyond any reason and decency.

They dug up and then hid an accusation that Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh was involved in sexual misconduct when he was in high school.

Not a series of continuing transgressions. Not an incident ten years ago, or from law school, or from his undergraduate college days. But in high school.

We guess they couldn’t find the girl with whom Kavanaugh played “post office” in kindergarten.

Several years ago, the movie comedy “Man of the Year”, starring the late Robin Williams, was based on a strange premise. His character, a comedian on the presidential ballot in just enough states to carry a majority of the Electoral College, was elected president via a computer flaw.

The question for a Hillary voter is; Have you learned nothing from eight years of Obamanation socialism and how can another four years of the same failed socialist squandering of taxpayer money ever change anything? Does anyone really believe that socialism will work if we squander more tens of trillions of taxpayer money? In 3700 years of recorded history socialist ideologies have been repeatedly tried and always resulted in the destruction of a nation followed by mass murder from tyrannical dictators. Socialism is slavery.

A recent left wing CNN poll indicates that Trump is fifteen points above Hillary on the issue of trust. Some feminist organizations are generating the old divide and conquer smear campaigns to argue that the laws broken by the Clinton crime family should be ignored because Trump's politically incorrect genitals are not to be trusted. This argument makes about as much sense as suggesting that men and women need different forums such as 'women to women' or 'man to man'. This is the disreputable strategy of divide and conquer to pretend that men and women share nothing in common.

Every two years, the Cato Institute in Washington, DC ranks the recent changes in state fiscal policies to give readers an understanding of the trends prevailing in each state. Last week, Cato released its newest Fiscal Report Card, and Nevada fares poorly.
