Pine Nuts with McAvoy Layne: Dancing to 'Omnis Terra Jubilate Deo' at holiday concert

Music, I have to believe, is the best medicine on the shelf. It cuts down on our doctor bills and keeps us from sourin'. So I went to the Jubilate Holiday Concert in Truckee to cheer myself up and put a spring back in my step. It turned out to be the best decision I could have made.

Carson City wins Levitt Amp Concert Series Grant for Fifth Straight Year

Today, the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation named Carson City, Nevada as one of 20 small to mid-sized towns and cities across America to win a Levitt AMP Grant Award of $25K in matching funds to present a free concert series at The Change Companies Stage. The Brewery Arts Center submitted Carson City’s Levitt AMP proposal.

Kenny Chesney fans comprise the No Shoes Nation, and then there is Michael Franti, who always performs barefoot onstage. Both sides will converge at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys on Thursday and Friday, July 2 and 3.

Nevada Arts Council announces 2020 grant awards for artists

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Arts Council announced the awarding of $22,639.60 in statewide grants to support individual artists in the production and presentation of artistic projects that will occur between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2020.

The Orchestra Program of Carson City School District is holding its Holiday Concert Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. Just the idea of a concert in Carson City is exciting enough, but it gets even better because this musical event will cost audiences absolutely nothing except a little time and effort getting there. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! Carson City among 25 finalists for Levitt AMP music series grant, winners to be announced Dec. 20

The votes have been counted and Carson City was picked among 25 finalists competing for a Levitt AMP grant proposal, submitted by the Brewery Arts Center, for its popular free summer concert music series. Winners will be announced Dec. 20, according to an announcement Thursday morning.

Deadline Wednesday to vote for return of Levitt AMP Carson City summer concert series

This Wednesday, Nov. 20 is the last day to vote support for a Levitt AMP Foundation matching grant that would ensure the return of the Brewery Arts Center's 10-week free, live outdoor music series to Carson City in the summer of 2020.
