The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open Monday through Friday. In this installation, Favela will collage imagery from famous animated films that depict Latin American culture. Using his signature "piñata style" Favela will make large scale murals with tissue paper and glue that will break down images from films like “The Three Caballeros”, “The Emperor's New Groove” and “Coco.” These films celebrate Latin American culture but through the investigation of the imagery, Favela will highlight the exoticism and Hollywood fantasy that falsely represents an entire culture. Favela, a Las Vegas native, makes work in a piñata style exploring his identity as a Latino from Las Vegas with Mexican and Guatemalan parents. He makes his work with traditional craft materials like tissue paper and cardboard, making anything from sculptures to large scale paper installations.

At this time CASA of Carson City is seeking new volunteers who are passionate and dedicated to improving a child's life. Please come down to the CASA Office and meet our staff, see our Foster Kid's Closet and ask questions about how YOU can help be that difference and support a child in foster care. Jimmy G's Cigar Bar hosts country music singer and songwriter Art Mulchay. Nashville recording artist Art Mulchay will perform Thursday, Dec. 12, from 8 p.m. to midnight at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar in Carson City. Art Mulcahy is an out-of-the-box Country/Southern Rock vocalist and songwriter with an evolving sound that draws as much from Shinedown and Staind as it does Garth Brooks and Jason Aldean. Mulcahy crosses boundaries fearlessly and is intent on bringing something new to his genre. He has shared stages with artists ranging from David Allen Coe to Vince Neil and is about to deliver his take on this style to the world with a debut album, Art Mulcahy. The record was tracked in Los Angeles and Nashville and produced by Jonathan Smith a.k.a. TheRealJonSmith (Blake Shelton, Michael Sweet, Interscope Records, Abbey Road Studios). Mulcahy has drawn comparisons to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aaron Tippin, and The Eagles but possesses fierce originality that keeps him in his own creative lane. Currently based in Dayton Nev., Mulcahy grew up on the move as a military brat, living in the USA, Europe, and on the island of Guam. He sang, played sports, and started learning guitar at age 12. He served seven years in the USMC after 9/11 and sustained a traumatic brain injury in a tragic Hummer accident at Camp Lejeune. After being honorably discharged, he dedicated his life to music. Mulcahy rode Greyhounds cross country for a while, finally beginning his musical life in Sacramento, Calif. Since then, Art has developed into a fine musician and high-energy performer in his own right with the power and presence to attract a global audience. He calls upon all his influences and makes the music that feels right in his own heart to show listeners that it’s okay to be different and to defy expectations. As an artist, he is an open book, showing his true emotions onstage and including different styles of music and even some comedy in his concerts. His goals are to play great music, spread positive energy, and to bring amazing people together by doing so. Anyone who cares about the future of Country and Southern Rock needs to discover Art Mulcahy today. He just rode in on a horse of a different color. See his Facebook page here. Jimmy G's is located at 301 N Carson St., Carson City.
