Happy Saturday Carson City! It’s caucus day, are you ready to vote if you are so inclined? Here are some events to do after/instead throughout the Carson City region!

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. Dale Poune will perform at Bella Vita Bistro, plus comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, an open house at the historic Foreman-Roberts House, a Latin-themed concert at the community center and more. The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will present the first of four “LatinXpressions” concerts on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m., at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William Street in Carson City. The concert highlights music and dance of Latin America as well as classical compositions.

The Capital City Community Band will present its annual “Salute To Young Musicians” concert on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 3 p.m. in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson Community Center.

Come celebrate Mardi Gras Weekend at Rue Bourbon. Did you know that “Rue Bourbon” is French for “Bourbon Street?” So why would you go anywhere else to celebrate Mardi Gras!?!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities over the next three days. Restaurants in Carson City will host Valentine’s Day specials on Friday. The Carson City Celtic Music series will be at the Brewery Arts Center on Saturday featuring Fortunate Strangers. Combined with live music and comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Carson City region is in store for a busy three days. Read on for more information.

Students from Wild Horse Children's Theater in Carson City won a Freddie G Excellence in Music national theater award and earned recognition at the 2020 Junior Theater Festival West, which happened Feb. 7-9, 2020 at Wells Fargo Pavilion.

Burning Man arrives early in Nevada this year. No, not that fall gathering in the desert. Dierks Bentley is returning to the Summer Concert Series at Harveys Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena for a concert on Saturday, Aug. 15, and he will bring his award-winning song “Burning Man” with him.

Capitol FFA traveled to North Valleys High School Feb. 1 in order to compete in the Northern FFA Zone Competition. CHS Agriculture Mechanics, Welding, and FFA Adviser and teacher Rebecca Glocknitzer said, "I know all of our students worked hard to prepare for Zone, and Mr. Mann and I are so proud of their efforts."

We’ve got a bunch of great events in the region through the weekend, so check below!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

Fortunate Strangers is a West Coast band featuring Scottish and Irish songs. The band combines the experience of three performers from the San Francisco Bay Area and the High Sierra. They will be performing Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Heading into Thursday, sunshine and a gradual warming continues. Happenings around the capital city include a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, a cardio and strength connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a Muscle Powered hike along the V&T trail, library activities, Pilates at the Brewery Arts Center and for your music pleasure, roots raconteur Ray Bonneville will perform at the Silver City Schoolhouse with Richie Lawrence.

Heading into Tuesday, the capital city will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint with events throughout the day. Other activities include a morning and evening walk hosted by Muscle Powered, a dinner fundraiser for the Roman family at Pizza Factory, a community dinner and meeting invite to the Order of Eastern Star, a showing at the BAC of the 1941 film classic "The Lady Eve" and a concert featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn at Shepherd-Sierra Lutheran Church. Heading into the first Monday of February, we're hoping your post Super Bowl day is filled with a few extra dollars in your pocket, tasty leftovers for lunch and some good-hearted conversational quarterbacking. Activities around the capital city include a luncheon highlighting the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar, a free Partnership Carson City Yoga class at the Carson City Community Center, art activities and showings, swing dance lessons at Carson Lanes and more.

Consort Canzona, an early music performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, will begin rehearsals on Monday, Feb. 3, for their May concerts. The program features Madrigals from the Renaissance through the Baroque, and includes separate and combined instrumental and vocal selections. Rehearsals are Mondays at 7 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive.

The CHS, NJROTC Orienteers competed in a weekend long orienteering festival in Anza Borrego State Park, Calif., Jan. 17-18. During the festival, team members competed in three different races over the two days.

Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

Benjamin Franklin, one of the best gamers of all time said, “We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.” The adults sure could learn a thing or two from the students at CHS because Winterfest 2020 played out, pun intended, just like it was supposed to with Carson's Got Game being the theme.

RENO — For the first time since 2008, Reno-Tahoe International Airport served almost 4.5 million passengers, up 5.7 percent over 2018, and the fifth consecutive increase in year-over-year passenger growth.

Roots Raconteur Ray Bonneville returns to Silver City in February for a one-night performance accompanied by acclaimed instrumentalist Richie Lawrence on keyboard and accordion.

The National Endowment for the Arts recently announced Art Project Grants distributed to all 50 states, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and Carson City, Reno and Las Vegas were the beneficiaries in Nevada.

The state of Nevada received three grants total for a an amount of $45,000. Of the grants, $10,000 went to the Carson City Symphony Association, Inc. to “support a series of concert performances featuring musical traditions of Central and South America.”

Stellar violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn joins TOCCATA, the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus for the 10th year, performing one of the finest and most popular gems in the concerto repertoire. Ms. Pitcairn plays Mendelssohn's beloved "Violin Concerto" on the legendary 1720 "Red Mendelssohn" Stradivarius.
