Kyra Gonzales, 11, of Carson City, claimed the top prize of $500 cash at Carson’s Got Talent, the regional talent competition benefiting Meals on Wheels Carson City, last Saturday evening.

The Carson City Toyota Community Cares campaign celebrated a quarter century of giving to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada with a $10,000 check. Since 1993, Carson City Toyota has matched community donations totaling thousands of dollars. Altogether, the Campagni Auto Group, along with matching support from the community, has provided the Club with nearly $250,000 in operating funds over the past 25 years.

CARSON CITY — Carson’s Got Talent, an evening extravaganza of regional talent at the Bob Boldrick Theater, April 14 at 6:30 p.m., announced its panel of celebrity judges this week.

CARSON CITY — In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada kicked off its $25 for 25 campaign, a donor program designed to help the Club achieve long-term financial sustainability.

The Carson City Greenhouse Project will celebrate 10 years of its Concert Under the Stars series this summer with rock and roll hall of famers Jefferson Starship and special guests Midnight North, a Bay Area rock and Americana jam band with ties to Dead and Company's Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, organizers announced Saturday.

CARSON CITY — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada named Mia Liao the 2018 Youth of the Year at its annual awards banquet and kicked off a year of celebration in honor of its 25th anniversary.

Although Veterans Day was observed yesterday, there are several things today that honor our former members of the military. Battle Born Harley Davidson is throwing an appreciation party complete with food trucks. Virginia City’s annual Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. and the City of Reno will commence their parade after a short ceremony beginning at 11:11 a.m. You’ll find an abundance of craft fairs in Carson City, Carson Valley, and Dayton. Every year for Veterans Day, several local and national businesses go out of their way to say thank you to the men and women who have served, and are actively serving in our armed forces. Nevada Day weekend arrived Thursday with the 32nd annual Nevada Day Carnival and Celebration at Mills Park in Carson City.

The countdown continues. Nevada Day is observed Friday, so get ready for an action-packed three-day weekend. Head down to Old Town Dayton for their annual Haunted Hayrides into History. You’ll find games, refreshments, Ghostly Pioneers, and it’s the perfect place for your costume. The Boys and Girls Club invites you to their ‘Lights on Afterschool’ event with an ice cream social, face painting, games, bounce house, S.T.E.M. labs and more. A Dodgeball battle at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center raises money for Domestic Abuse Awareness.

Today’s the day. Archie, the Reno Aces mascot, has been entrusted to once again oversee the grand opening of the Carson City Fair at Fuji Park. The soft opening of the accompanying carnival begins at 6 p.m. with one dollar rides. It’s Miss Scarlet with the lead pipe in the Observatory as the Carson City Library hosts a super-sized game of Clue for teens. Families will enjoy Beauty and the Beast, complete with a craft, if they sign up for the Library’s movie night. It won’t be lions, and tigers, and bears taking over Fuji Park; the Carson City Fair is more about bunnies, alpacas, pigs and chickens. It begins today with a 4-H dog show focusing on obedience and rally. You’ll have to wait until Wednesday for the carnival, but you’ll be rewarded for your patience with one dollar rides opening night, courtesy of Carson City Toyota. If you happened to be awake during the wee hours of the morning, you may have heard some thunder rattling about – there may be a little more of that on its way.

It’s hot. We know this. But in just over a month we expect you, your dog and your dog’s friends to be joining us for the annual Walk for Animals, which means right now you’re getting in shape for this, right? Despite the heat?

Carson City Toyota General Manager Dana Whaley hates heights. But that’s not stopping him from taking a worthwhile cause to a higher level in an effort to raise money for Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.

On Friday, Jan. 27, Whaley will be taken to the top of a Ferris Wheel where he will have to stay, suspended, until $2,500 is raised for the foundation.
