Tickets are now on sale for the annual Celebrity Chef and Harvest Dinner, which takes place Nov. 7 at Cafe at Adele’s. This is one of three fundraisers conducted each year for The Greenhouse Project, whose mission it is to continue “growing a greener and healthier community,” according to Karen Abowd, board president, who co-owns Cafe at Adele’s with her husband, Chef Charlie Abowd.

Carson City Toyota helping WNC students succeed through scholarships

Carson City Toyota is funding several new scholarships for local students who attend Western Nevada College. The students come from Carson City, Dayton, Douglas and Silver Stage high schools.

Carson Toyata General Manager Dana Whaley presented a $4,000 check to WNC President Chet Burton this week. The scholarships were created to help eight college students meet financial needs, as they work toward a degree from WNC.

A “Salute to Spring” will be the theme of the 31st annual RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park in Carson City.

It all begins on Thursday, May 5, with Dollar Night, where every ride is just $1. The fun continues at the carnival on Friday and throughout the weekend, when Wold Amusements Carnival has special all-day ride passes for $30.

Carson City Toyota Scion extends Boys and Girls Club Community Challenge donation drive

Dick Campagni, a long-time donor to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, has extended the deadline for the company’s dollar to dollar match up to $10,000 in the Campagni Toyota and Scion Community Challenge to April 30. The program was originally expected to end on April 1.

“We feel it’s important to give back to our community, particularly our youth,” Campagni said. “We believe in helping kids, and the Boys & Girls Club is a great organization to partner with to keep our kids safe.”

The 2015 Appeal For Kids ended on January 31 and our generous community stepped up once again to help local children in crisis. The Cowboy Mardi Gras fundraiser on February 26 was our best ever. Operation Warm: Carson City firefighters distribute 235 new coats to students in need

The Carson City Firefighters Association purchased 235 brand new coats for Carson City students in transition between permanent homes through Operation Warm after raising almost $7,500, nearly double the amount raised in last year’s drive.

Firefighters on Wednesday began distributing coats to children selected by the Carson City School District at Fritsch Elementary School, which is the first stop on the distribution tour of district schools.

Carson City’s firefighters are collecting funds to purchase new coats for Carson City students in transition between permanent homes through Operation Warm. Supported by the International Association of Fire Fighters and Rotary Clubs across the country, Operation Warm has donated more than 1.7 million coats nationally since its inception in 1998.

Donors sought for Celebrity Chef and Harvest Dinner fundraiser for Greenhouse Project

It’s that time of year again, when sponsors are sought to support the Celebrity Chef and Harvest Dinner, hosted by Cafe at Adele’s in Carson City and now in its sixth year.

A major donor, (composed of one donor or many) for the amount of $5,000 is still needed. The $5,000 match is collected through donations both large and small, by dinner patrons.

Nevada Humane Society is issuing a big public thanks to Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota Scion for generously donating a 2015 Toyota Corolla as the grand prize for the annual Duck Race and Festival set for Sunday, August 23 in Reno.

On race day, 30,000 bright yellow rubber ducks will race down the Truckee River to raise money and awareness for homeless pets. The first duck — not necessarily the fastest duck — to reach the finish line and enter the official duck trap will be the grand prize winner and can walk away with the Toyota Corolla that night.

Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota, Capital Ford, and Campagni Auto Group are pleased to announce a winner has been selected for this year’s Carson City Little League raffle.

The grand prize, a 2005 Toyota Sienna Mini Van, was won by Jeffrey Ferrel. The vehicle is valued at more than $10,500 and was raffled off this past weekend. Celebrity Waiters Make FISH Celebration a Success

FISH, also known as Friends in Service Helping, would like to thank all the celebrity waiters and their guests who made the 2015 Have a Heart Celebration on May 16 a huge success. Community members raised over $30,000 for the human services organization. All of the donations will be used to fund FISH’s programs for the homeless and hungry, including a food bank, a family dining room, two homeless shelters, and a clinic.
