Carson City Kiwanis. Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day

Carson City Kiwanis to host its 8th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day fundraiser on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City, NV.

The annual event has raised over $90,000 toward the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and another $30,000 toward the Marilyn Elain Academic Scholarship, which is awarded annually to local high school graduates.

While the seat for Ward 2 will be filled following the election on Nov. 4, another seat is open and will be filled by appointment.

The seat for Ward 3 is currently held by Supervisor Lori Bagwell, who will be vacating now that she has been elected Carson City’s mayor.

Carson City Kiwanis will host the 7th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day fundraiser on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City, NV. The net proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the Marilyn Elaine Academic Scholarship, awarded annually to local high school graduates.

What do you get when you combine 134 golfers, 70 runners, and 24 weight lifters on a beautiful Saturday in September? The results are over $9,000 raised toward pancreatic cancer funding and over $3,000 raised for local scholarships. Pretty amazing, right?

The 6th Annual Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019. Proceeds from the event will support Pancreatic Cancer Research and local academic scholarships.

There are three walk/run events this year. There is a 2-Mile walk/run, an 8K event, and a 1-Mile walk/run for kids 12 and under.

Carson City residents turned out in all ages, shapes, fitness and strength spectrums Saturday for the fifth annual Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day.

Registration is now open for the fifth annual Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day. Founder Robey Willis is encouraging golfers to sign up as soon as possible.

Enjoy these September days, it will be blustery and cold before we know it. Celebrate our neighbor to the east during their annual Dayton Valley Days street festival. Tour their museums, pan for gold, and enjoy samples at their Chili cook-off. Downtown Carson is a hotbed of fun tonight with two pub crawls and the Ghost Walk Haunted History Tour. While it was a personal accomplishment for the runner, it was also a victory for her mother, who died from pancreatic cancer in 2014.

FRIDAY:

The third annual Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day is like Carson City’s mini Olympics, said founder Robey Willis.

“There’s so much going on with the golf tournament, the run and the weight-lifting competition,” he said. “I think that’s what makes it such a festive atmosphere. People are having so much fun.”

The Carson City Kiwanis will host it's 3rd Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day. There will many activities including a four person scramble golf tourney with many categories, such as men's teams , women's teams, mixed and senior teams. It's only $75 person and Michael Hohl Motors is donating a vehicle for if a person who get's a hole in one. This event will be held at the Empire Ranch golf course, as will the other events.

The last Farmers Market of the season is at Third and Curry, so get your fix of fresh fruits, veggies, honey and more before the leaves fall. Robey Willis, founder of the Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day, urged participants to sign up early for this year’s golf tournament and other events.

“The golf tournament completely sold out last year,” he said. “It would be prudent for people to get in while they can.”

The second annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day will feature a 5K walk/run, bench press competition and golf tournament, on Sept. 19 at Empire Ranch Golf Course. Willis said last year’s event was a success.

“We had a wonderful time,” he said. “It was just a ball.”
