Carson City Brewfest cancelled due to COVID-19, rescheduled for 2021

The Rotary Club of Carson City has announced that The Capital City Brewfest, scheduled for August 29th, will not take place this summer due to the COVID 19 virus.

Carson City Sheriff's Office respond to report of dead body found in hills near Lakeview

UPDATE 5:14PM: From Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong: At approximately 1:48 p.m., a hiker in the hills between Carson Tahoe Hospital and Lakeview Estates discovered the remains of a deceased older male. The remains were largely buried in snow. Detectives have processed the scene and removed the body for transport to the Washoe County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy, scheduled for Thursday. Identification of the remains and cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner. No other information is available at this time.

Carson Tahoe Health, Rotary of Carson City celebrate Labyrinth anniversary and partnership

Wednesday marks 13 years since the opening of the outdoor Labyrinth located at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. The unique space was made possible through a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Carson City.

In 2006, under the leadership of past president Rafael Cappucci, the Rotary Club contributed $75,000 to build the Labyrinth, and gave another $200,000 in support of the Cancer Center project over a four-year period.

The statistics are staggering. Thirty percent of the people diagnosed with breast cancer go on to get metastatic breast cancer.

Metastatic beast cancer is an incurable disease. It is when breast cancer has spread beyond the breast, possibly to the lymph nodes or other organs in the body. Around 40,000 people a year in the US die from it. It is the advanced part of breast cancer and it is rarely discussed.

Carson Tahoe Health creates cancer triage line to assist patients with their treatment

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, an affiliate of Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah recently added a nurse triage line to provide symptom management to established patients. The nurse triage line coordinates care between the patient, nurses, and physicians at the Cancer Center.
