Senator Square: Senior aims to be new world record holder

Senior student Taylor Weddell presents the following information about her senior project. “At Carson High, every senior participates in a Senior Project, I wanted to do something completely different and still help some kind of organization or group. I jumped at the opportunity to participate in an event that brings a community together, raises funds and breaks a world record. It was a little intimidating for sure, but I’m working closely with the Board of Directors of the Carson City Schools Foundation and learning so much in the process. I feel like it’s brought out some leadership qualities I didn’t know I had. My project is to break the World Record for the largest human Christmas tree. The current record stands at 2,945 people and was set by Honduras. We will also be raising funds for the Carson City Schools Foundation. Entry is free, but all donations are appreciated. The Carson City Schools Foundation was created to increase student achievement through philanthropic investment and involvement. Visit ccschoolsfoundation.org for more information on the foundation. The event will take place on Saturday December 19th, 2015 at the Carson High School Football Field. Gates open at 10:00 AM and we will start the record attempt at 11:00 AM. All participants must provide their name and address before we can begin, so we suggest coming at 10:00 AM. This is an all-ages event, but keeps in mind the cold weather and we must stand still for six minutes for the record to count. Hot Chocolate and Coffee will be sold!! We’ll also have some entertainment. Parking is limited.” For more information, please visit the Facebook Event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1665441680368601/.
