Carson City sheriff's crime log: Arrests made for warrants, domestic battery and obstructing
A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 200 block of West Caroline Street for a felony fugitive from justice warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Derek Rondale Fleming was taken into at 7:04 p.m. after officers were dispatch to a residence regarding a domestic dispute. Dispatch advised Fleming had a confirmed warrant out of Caddo Parish, Louisiana with a no bail hold. Fleming was taken to Carson City jail where he is awaiting extradition.
In other arrests:
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for misdemeanor charges of eluding, obstructing, driving without a valid license and driving with expired license plates, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, Carson City dispatch broadcast an “attempt to locate” alert for a suspect involved in a possible attempted kidnapping of his girlfriend in the South Lake Tahoe area. The man was described as having two guns inside his vehicle and was driving at a high rate of speed. When officers attempted to contact him, he drove off. Officers were informed that he may be heading to his mother’s house on Hackamore Way.
A deputy located the suspect vehicle and observed it take off at a high rate of speed. The officer activated his emergency lights. The vehicle made a u-turn at the intersection of East Telegraph and Hackamore Way.
The driver made a skidding stop with the man exiting the vehicle, running toward a woman who it was learned was his mother. He hid behind his mother, who shielded him from deputies. She told the officers that her son didn’t do anything and to leave, the arrest report states.
The woman then began to pull her son away from a deputy as he was being handcuffed. The deputy told the woman to stop. The 29-year-old man was taken into custody. Bail: $1,313. The man’s 52-year-old mother was also arrested for suspicion of obstructing an officer. Her bail: $412.
— A 55-year-old Mill Valley, Calif., man was arrested Tuesday, 2:05 p.m. in the 1400 block of College Parkway for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a gas station for a report of a non-injury accident. Deputies learned that a woman was attempting to pull a U-Haul truck to a gas pump when the driver side of the U-Haul struck the front passenger side of a Dodge truck.
As the woman attempted to move forward to find a parking space, she was punched in the head by her husband. The victim told the officer she did not wish to file charges. A witness to the incident, who called emergency dispatch, said he observed the man punch the woman twice in the head and asked the man not to hit the woman. The witness agreed to write a witness statement. The 55-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
— A 40-year-old Silver Springs woman was arrested Tuesday, 12:46 p.m. at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny. The woman allegedly attempted to steal bags of clothing from the store. Bail: $352.
— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 12:28 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued in August. Bail: $919.
