Carson City Planning Commission to review SUP for disc golf course
A special use permit (SUP) submitted by the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department to build a disc golf course in East Carson City is scheduled for review at the Wednesday, Sept. 28 Carson City Planning Commission meeting.
According to the Planning Comission agenda, the SUP seeks permission to build three disc golf courses located at 3600 Flint Drive on land currently zoned Public Regional (PR). The public parcel is owned by the city.
Plans call for two 18-hole tournament style disc golf courses and one nine-hole short course, the agenda report states.
Included in the SUP proposal is a 50-space parking lot, covered picnic area, bathroom facilities, and signage.
The proposed recreation complex would be located northwest of the Carson City landfill area and southwest of Flint Drive.
Disc golf is a sport similar in rules to traditional golf, but is played with a concave, Frisbee-type disc instead of with clubs and a ball. The disc is thrown into wire baskets raised off the ground on poles, as opposed to in-ground cups or holes.
