Carson City arrests: Man jailed for domestic battery, allegedly head-butts girlfriend
A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of domestic battery after he allegedly head-butted his girlfriend causing a swollen lip and bruising, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers were called at 2:10 a.m. for a report of a domestic dispute in the area of East Fifth and Harbin streets. A deputy spotted the male subject who matched the description and asked him to sit down. The officer located the man’s girlfriend who was visibly upset and had a swollen upper lip. She was holding her year-old daughter.
Deputies interviewed the victim and learned the couple had gotten into an argument, where the man, who was intoxicated, began throwing things around the house and calling the woman names. The woman said her boyfriend put his hands on her as she was holding their child, the arrest report states. She said he then head butted her on the left side of her head near her temple and to her lip. She also showed the officer a fresh bruise on her left shoulder.
The woman said she left with her daughter to a neighbor’s house and then returned to get diapers. She said her boyfriend followed her to the neighbor’s house and asked her if he could hold their daughter, the report states. The woman said she told him that due to his intoxication, she did not feel comfortable allowing him to hold their daughter. The man became upset and it was at that point she called the sheriff’s office, the arrest report states.
The man denied he was physical with the woman when he was asked about her injuries. He said he didn’t know how they happened. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery. Bail; $3,137.
