Nevada Governor Sandoval to attend Sept. 11 memorial ceremony in Fallon
Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, City of Fallon Mayor Ken Tedford, various city council members and local residents honor the heroes and the lives lost in the September 11, 2001 attacks during the 15th annual memorial service held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 11 in the City Hall Courtyard.
Attendees are able to view a permanent display of a steel beam pulled from the fallen World Trade Center and donated to Fallon by the people of New York City. The steel serves not only as a reminder of the fallen buildings but also commemorating those heroic lives that were lost on this tragic day in history.
“It is important that we, not only as a community, but as a country, take this day to honor and pay respect to those heroic people whose lives were taken so abruptly that day,” said Mayor Tedford. “This is also an opportunity for our community leaders to teach the next generation of Nevadans about what happened during the attacks, and how our country responded with patriotism and unity.”
In addition to Governor Sandoval and Mayor Tedford’s thoughtful words, the memorial features a patriotic choir performance.
